One_crazy_dude 1 Posted May 14, 2012 Any one know how long before snap caps are use less? I picked up a set of 5 a few weeks ago and they have some deep dimples in them now and I don't know if the Job they should be doing is getting done. How can I tell? Thanks
lunker 274 Posted May 14, 2012 What kind did you get? My metal AZoom snap caps have gone thousands of rounds. They are scratched up on the surface but function as well as day one. The cheap ones that come with CZ pistils are meant to have their "primers" replaced when they get todented up. That is why they come with spares. PeteF 1,044 Posted May 14, 2012 Centerfire will last a very long time. Rimfire start wearing at the first trigger pull and are hit and miss after 10. If just dry firing you can use a spent casing as a snap cap.
One_crazy_dude 1 Posted May 14, 2012 I got these from shore shots, it was all they had. They are taking a beating and now don't recommend them for anyone. I did get a zoom for my 12 guage (also got from S.S.) and they are all metal and have like a gel where the firing pin hits. I will be looking for them in a 9mm. They look like they will last a long time compared to the other snap caps.
lunker 274 Posted May 15, 2012 I owned some of the plastic ones you bought. They are crap and a waste of money. sorry you had to find out the hard way.
