Damjan 73 Posted September 28, 2012 Hello everyone, Although this does not apply to 99.99% people on this forum during my last purchase i was not asked to provide bills showing proof of residency for 90 days. So they changed the rule for all non citizen firearms purchases. https://www.federalregister.gov/articles/2012/06/07/2012-13770/residency-requirements-for-aliens-acquiring-firearms-2011r-23p Does anyone here know what an Interim Final Rule at the ATF is ? Is it final when its on the 4473? Seems final to me since some FFLs are not asking for this.
TheWombat 67 Posted September 28, 2012 Can't answer your question - but as a Green Card holder the 90 day proof is something I've had to do each time. I've not bought a firearm in the last few months though. TheWombat
Urban Grunt 44 Posted September 28, 2012 While doing the background check They still ask the gun shop to " check if he's a US citizen " . I have nothing on me to prove it so when asked I just say , yes I am. Seems to me the records are not up to date and it depends on who you get on the phone to what they will ask for. Btw I've been a US citizen over two years .
PK90 3,573 Posted September 28, 2012 The 90 day rule changed on July 9th. No proof of residency is required other than your regular documents, i.e. DL, FPID.
