Out of State Appleseed

I'm thinking of doing an Appleseed event in NY state.  Anyone have any thoughts about legality of bringing my 10/22 with ten round magazines into New York State....specifically Westchester.

I can't see any problem with transporting in trunk locked. However this is one case I would advise having empty magazines. IIRC you can have 10 in the gun on the range, 7 elsewhere. Hate to see you get in trobule if you miscount and have 8 in a magazine.

I would agree with making sure you're mags are unloaded during transport. IIRC, 10 round magazines themselves are okay... but you can only have 7 rounds loaded. (There may be an exemption once you're actually at the range to load a 10 rounder to capacity... but just be safe and leave them unloaded while traveling.) 

 

I would honestly take every precaution I could... their gun laws are even more screwed up than ours are.
