gfl216 226 Posted August 30, 2017 I was told that the range at Colliers Mills was completely closed. Looking on the Division of Fish & Wildlife web site is says that the range is closed to shotguns (#4 shot and smaller) but it looks like it's open to archery, muzzleloaders, shotguns with buckshot or slugs, rimfire, and air rifle . Dose anyone know what the real story is?
oldguysrule649 397 Posted August 30, 2017 What was the source who told you it is closed and effective when? i was there about two months ago and it was very much open as usual. I believe some years back there was a clay shooting range there (birdshot only) that had been closed and never reopened. Perhaps there is confusion with that. ps the archery range is separate but in the immediate vicinity of the gun range.

Parker 213 Posted August 30, 2017 They closed it last summer for some work through August, but the website still indicates the shotgun range is closed: http://www.njfishandwildlife.com/ranges.htm Ocean CountyColliers Mills WMAOff Colliers Mills and Hawkins RoadsColliers MillsArchery, Muzzleloader (50 and 100 yards)SHOTGUN RANGE CLOSED
Scorpio64 5,156 Posted August 30, 2017 The range is "closed" in regards to shooting clays. Basically no skeet or trap allowed. Rimfire rifle (no pistols), muzzle loader and shotgun with buckshot and slugs are allowed. With that said. I've seen broken clay pigeons and 7.5 hulls all over the place there.
