Another Q26 Question (Sorry)

Recommended Posts

Hello New Jersey Gun Forums Community!

Long time lurker, new member!  I am sure you guys are tired of the Q26 questions, and to be honest, I think I know the answer to this, but I figured I'd ask again to put the issue to rest in my head.  About a month ago I filled out a digital application on NJPortal my FID and a handgun permit.  I went through it pretty quickly and when I saw Q26 I checked no, because my assumption was this question was regarding bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, etc.  (not something common like ADHD).  My two references filled in their questionnaires and all I had to do was get fingerprinted.  After speaking with some friends, I realized that I may have made a mistake selecting "No" to Q26 because I do see a nurse practitioner every 2 months to get my ADHD medication refilled.  They suggested I just refill the application and check yes for Q26 and include that I do see an NP for my ADHD, which I did, and go get fingerprinted.

Two questions:

1) The first application was never technically completed, because even though I got the 2 references the fingerprinting wasn't done.  Do you think I am going to have a problem with the double applications?

2)  Am I now going to have an issue where they think I was falsifying my application because of the double submit?

I have had a similar issue but got a permit a couple months ago. It might be best to just tell the cops at your town what is going on and ask if that would count as a "yes" or a "no." Then you don't have to worry about whether you've committed some kind of crime. They might tell you to start all over again, and they will probably say you have to get a letter from the doctor saying you're OK.

Other people may tell you that you should just say no. I don't know if the cops will find out about your treatment or not. It seems they're mostly looking for commitments to mental places, but who knows for sure? What you describe does not disqualify you from owning a firearm.

I would be interested in knowing what eventually happened and what you decided to do.
