I am sorry if this thread has turned into a Shooters FAQ... that was not my intention. I just want to add some clarity to the confusion.

"longstanding verification procedures that make sure firearms-carriers do not pose a threat to public safety" If the verification procedures are working, what is the threat that licensed firearms-carriers pose to anyone? If they are not working, why have them? The repeated contradiction of kids need to be safe, and prohibiting people from carrying to protect their children is moronic. I posit Murphy is an oxymoron - an eight sided idiot. He's an idiot every day of week and twice on Sunday.

I do not think it matters, only that it be secure. Keep in mind, an OWB holster can be considered concealed if covered with a long shirt or jacket.

I believe so. At issue with the pre CCARE (SEPT 17, 2023) Shooters qualification is Shooters never did any holster work before. Now we are being forced to do it.

Dajonga disclaimer... I work at Shooters. Dajonga's summary of the big takeaways here... - Don't be mean to us. We know this sucks. We know it is BS. We know the AG and Murphy suck, but we don't want to hear it every single time we take a call. Please, no profanity. We do not like this any more than you do.... We like it less, in fact. This creates more work for us. Be patient, be kind. Be a jerk to us and you will likely be asked to take your business elsewhere. - Please do not call the store to ask questions about what is clearly stated above.... Our phones ring off the hook already. If every one of the nearly 4000 people who have qualified with us calls, it will be chaos. - Only call the shop to schedule your qual. Clearly state that you are scheduling for a re-qualification or an initial qualification - If you can prove you took your qualification with Shooters, you get to reshoot for free. NO EXCEPTIONS! As a serious gun owner in NJ who is accustomed to all of the insane paperwork needed to own guns in NJ, if you failed to keep a copy of your qual and/or your receipt, you have made a mistake. Be a grownup, admit you made a mistake & learn from it. Yes, we have a copy of your Qual in our records. No, we will not go up to the offices looking through thousands of pages of paperwork to provide a copy for you. - You will need a holster. - You will shoot 50 rounds.. 10 rounds each at 3, 5, 7, 10 & 15 yards in 5 round strings. There are no time restrictions - The requal is shooting only and will only take 20 minutes or so. - If you are shooting the qual for the first time or have lost your paperwork and need to take the whole thing again, the price for the classroom and shooting has increased from $90 to $120.

(We also will not be answering questions on the post until the end of the day.) You must bring a copy of your original qualifications or receipt to be requalified. It will be REQUIRED to show either one of these documents. If you DO NOT have proof of your initial qualification course or receipt, you will have to sign up for an initial PTC course. This course will be hosted at specific times. Please call the store @ 609-296-4080 to schedule your course, YOU MUST STATE YOU ARE GOING TO TAKE THE COURSE TO REQUALIFY AND YOU HAVE PROOF OF YOUR INITIAL COURSE. Failure to provide proof at time of requalification, you will not be permitted to shoot. DO NOT CALL IF YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO SCHEDULE FOR THIS COMING WEEK, once the week is full we will start the following week. We have time! Do not panic! Holsters are REQUIRED to requalify. You must bring a holster with the gun you intend to use for the qualification course. Please be PATIENT as we try to get everyone scheduled as quickly as possible, we have qualified so many customers in the last year. DISCLAIMER!!!!! RUDENESS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED! Please be patient & kind. Our staff will be overwhelmed by phone calls. The CCARE course must be completed by December 31st. We will be giving the FREE course starting tomorrow September 29th. Due to the changes in length of the course & instruction given we will be increasing the price of initial qualification courses to $120 beginning October 1st. Our instructors have and always will give you the most up to date information supplied to us. Thank you for making it to the bottom of our post!

It’s not necessarily about the reload (although with the NJ mag limit of 10 rounds or less, that should be taken into consideration). A large number of malfunctions can be traced to bad mags. Sometimes you need a different mag to keep the gun in the fight.

I said this 6 months ago. As firearms instructor for a couple of hundred agents I used to say you need to carry one reload for whatever you're carrying. If you can't solve the problem with what you're carrying in the gun, use the reload to get yourself out of the situation. Be it 5, 7. 10, or 15 rds. You've decided to carry a gun legally? Figuring out how to carry a reload is a minor issue. We don't have to conquer a situation. We have to survive it.

I have one extended and one normal. You can see the difference in my post above: I generally use the extended clip with mags that have extensions (just so they don’t protrude out of my pocket too much) and the standard clip for mags that have standard floor plates. This keeps the mags just under the lip/edge of my pants pocket. However, even a standard floor plate works fine as it is easy to grab for a reload, even with the extended pocket clip.
