  1. Rather than continue to clutter up PK90's AR lower for sale thread, I thought I'd start one here to share notes and info on building a first AR. ar15.com "Master" Thread: http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=4&t=226782 "So you want to buy an AR-15, huh?" Good introduction to features of AR rifles, including subtle ones, with lots of photos: http://forums.officer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=81462

    Hi All

    Welcome to the forum Matty.
  4. BTW, Six Flags just filed for bankruptcy: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124489639859012503.html How the F can they go bankrupt charging $6 for cokes and $10 for hot dogs!?
  5. At least 3rd generation here. Dad and grand-dad had firearms, but I wouldn't have called them "enthusiasts", just another tool in the toolbox for them I believe.
  6. Sounds like it is time to create gunbook.com, the social networking site for gun enthusiasts! In adversity there is opportunity.
  7. Why you don't talk to cops without a lawyer, even if you've done nothing wrong (watch both parts!): i8z7NC5sgik 08fZQWjDVKE
  8. Glocks definitely run on the wide side. My 26 is a small gun, but it's not particularly friendly to small hands. My big paws don't have a problem with it but I can understand how others might.
  9. If Skirmish just waiting to bend you over on "ammo" bothers you, there is an alternative: http://www.abcpaintball.com/, located in Hewitt NJ. AKA Greewood Lake Sports Center. They let you bring your own paint. Their facilities are not as extensive/elaborate as skirmish, but they are cheaper and closer.
  10. I'm going to throw a date out just to get some discussion going: Saturday, September 19th. I could play earlier, but with all the gear you typically wear it gets a bit sticky in the summer. Playing in the fall is a gentler introduction if you're not used to running around in the woods.
  11. I am trying to reserve the day to make this one. This would be my first "competitive" shoot ever, and first time at this range.
  12. I used to play paintball a bunch, still have enough gear and a marker to get back into it. I'm down with a group day if enough people can commit to a date.
  13. Doc, what red dot sight are you running on yours?
  14. I knew about the hipoint option, but what I *didn't* know about until yesterday was the Keltec 2000. http://www.gunblast.com/Kel-Tec_Sub2000.htm It's about half as much as the CX4 **AND YOU CAN BUY ONE SET UP FOR GLOCK MAGS** Grrr...
  15. Antz, 9mm is higher velocity than .40 or .45, but I don't know if one is particularly more accurate than the other. You might want to check in with the Beretta Long Gun Forum, lot more CX4 owners there: http://berettaforum.net/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=14
  16. Made it to this as well. First off, a very big thank you to Jennifer from the Bullet Hole and Anthony of Gun for Hire for putting this together. I thanked you both in person, but wanted to do so again. I also wish I could thank again the range instructors who helped us and provided their rifles for use of all the students. It was very heartening to see the wide range of people who attended, from 15 year olds to grandmothers. We had a bit of a wait between the end of the class and getting to shoot, but it was worth it. I was surprised how well I did with the rifle. My girlfriend had a little more trouble (actually hit the target in the port to the left of hers) and the instructor graciously spent more time with her and let her go through 4 mags instead of the two to try and help her get over the flinching. I know I'll be getting an AR eventually when prices come back to reality. In the meantime, I'll be looking to patronize the bullet hole even more and I'll be taking a look at what training is available at gun-for-hire. I was impressed by both organizations today.
  17. I'm getting one because it fills an interesting niche - fun enough to be a plinker, yet powerful enough to work for HD, uses the same ammo as my current handgun and if used for HD and a round misses, it won't drill through 2+ neighboring houses like an AR/AK round would. Yes, I'm probably paying $300 "too much" for it, but I want one now and that's the market.
  18. Give us a little context...what's the show about?
  19. Sure thing Doc! I'm doing a practice triathalon earlier that day, so I'm sure I'll have an appetite.
  20. I'll be there, thanks for making this available!
  21. Wow, some very smart looking and jealousy-inducing iron in this thread. Here's my small contribution - baby Glock 26:
