  1. nice, I was wondering how the trip went. 3 hours each way though. wow. =) so.... buy anything? Not quite. Did not have what I wanted. Seems nobody in the free states want guns that would be legal in NJ. I did meet a dealer that has one back at his store and the price is right fresh NIB merchandise for $1375 shipped to my FFL. Shame I was broke back in Feb. when there was a rebate.
  2. Went to The Nations Gun Show in VA today. Really good show IMHO. Lots and Lots of all kinds of guns. Even lots of full auto stuff. I saw plenty of old military stuff. I saw Mosins for $114.00. There was every type military rifle you could ever want. Many Garands and M14 rifles. I think the mix of old stuff to new modern was about fifty fifty. People were buying too. I counted twenty plus waiting in line at the register to pay for guns at Trader Jerry's. And as the line moved someone else joined it. Dealers literally had hundreds of handguns laid out on their tables. Of course a lot of what was there is probably illegal in NJ. I couldn't hardly find an AR without a folding stock. Take the Eagle Arms show at the Rodeway with 250 tables and multiply tables by 4 and guns on the tables by 5. It isn't exactly a quick trip, clocked at 195 miles from my shop in Ewing to the parking lot at Dulles Expo center. Took just over 3 hours. LA traffic doesn't have anything on the DC area for sure. It is bumper to bumper everywhere, but does move. After I left the show I went down the road about 5 miles and took a tour of the NRA National Firearms Museum. Also well worth the trip. YMMV
  3. See this for treaty ratifications. http://www.senate.gov/artandhistory/history/common/briefing/Treaties.htm I don't have time right now to say more but if you read at the link you should gain some knowledge.
  4. I came across this site by way of a link from a link in a post here. Lots of good gun porn. Enjoy! http://olegvolk.net/gallery/technology/arms/

Those members that have attended meetings over the last year or so, know what is going on. There were a lot of folks at this last meeting that appeared to be totally against the pit redesign and were looking for a fight. Where the hell were they when the motions were made, seconded, and voted on?????Seemed to me, a relative newcomer, that certain factions just found fault with anything the board and officers do. Also seemed to me that they couldn't hear or maybe comprehend the English language as question after question was asked after it was already answered. At times I was embarrassed for them. Wolfy don't take all this as directed at you personally. I just use your post to illustrate my views and opinions.

Money for the current and future upgrades to the property is not a problem.

I have been to every meeting for the last eight months. The lead clean-up and pit redesign has been discussed at every meeting. The Pinelands commission gave notice of "violations" in December. The board got notice on 12-23 or 12-24. As mentioned in my last post, the Pinelands commission found fault with the stone and gravel used on our Road/Driveway/ParkingLots. Their concern is possible runoff. They want us to prevent runoff. There are several ways to achieve the desired result. The club has chosen to install drainage from the involved area to a retention basin. A proposal has been submitted and we await their reply.

The lead cleanup should be done this week!! The only thing holding up this part of the project was the weather. The Pineland Commission problem is being addressed. They are concerned that our stone and dirt driveway and parking lots are impermeable. We can remove all the stone and gravel and have dirt driveway and parking lots or install drainage and retention basin(s). I guess we could probably have permeable pavers installed too if we had some stimulus money? The engineer hired by CJRPC has drawn up plans for a retention basin and drainage. The plan has been submitted to the commission and we await their reply. No new construction can start until the drainage question is answered. Once the approval is given by the Pinelands, the club will be able to get approvals and permits from Jackson Township and start work. There are no problems anticipated in getting Township permits as they have been in the loop from the beginning and are only awaiting our go ahead from the Pinelands Commission. The redesigned pits will number up to 13. There will be concrete barriers for dividing them. The back berm will be dirt and height increased to approximately 20 feet. Old pit #6 will become the retention pond area. The number of pits may change due to requirements of certain disciplines like SASS needing wider areas and the club will work with all concerned parties to try and accommodate everyone. The pit redesign allows more shooters to enjoy their sport and will continue to keep CJR&PC the best in the state. I'm glad I joined and feel the cost was not a lot considering the facility.

  10. Nice subject line. The club has taken the initiative to clean the club property of lead and improve the ranges. The ranges commonly known as "The Pits" are currently being cleaned of lead and redesigned to more than double the number of individual ranges and make them safer by way of higher berms and separating barriers. This is one of several planned steps of improvement of the facility to continue being one of the best clubs anywhere. Central Jersey Rifle and Pistol Club is working with the Pinelands Commission and the pertinent state and local authorities to do the job right. Lead contamination could be a problem for any range and CJRPC decided to act ahead of any potential problems.
  11. Guess it depends on what floats your boat. I go to both and I prefer an AP show to the Forks show. The Forks show would be great if you were an antique or military arms collector (half the building is devoted to this), but I think the AP show is a more contemporary show. I think AP is advertising 1700 tables, which seems waaaaaay optimistic, but this will be one of their bigger venues and in light of the Philly Armory not being back on-line until May, I may make this show. However, with VF the following week, I may wait and just go there - which for my money, offers the best of both world's. Adios, Pizza Bob I didn't do any real research on the Appalachian show in Allentown. I guess it really isn't the same show I've been to at the other locations. At 1200 tables it would be 50% larger than the Forks of the Delaware shows. Maybe I'll consider if I can go to both Allentown and Valley Forge.
  12. There are two shows in Allentown that weekend. Eagle Arms and Appalachian Promotions. The Appalachian show at the PA Expo Center is the same show that comes to Kings Caterers in Bristol PA and the Philadelphia Armory. Don't know about the Eagle Arms show. I have been to the one at Kings and the Amory and was not impressed. Would not drive an hour and a half for either. Last year it took about 30 minutes to look at the whole shebang at both shows. Luckily it only took 25 minutes to drive to them too. Maybe their show is different in Allentown. When at the show in Bristol last year I talked to a couple of vendors and they just make the circuit, same vendors etc. at each show. I thought the Forks of the Delaware show was the one to see in Allentown? The Valley Forge show on the following weekend might be better. I will be trying for that one. There is another thread here on the Valley Forge show. just my $.02
  13. Checked again with Speedtest.net and results are about the same. I expect to get 18-20 Mb/s anywhere in the lower 48 states. I used to get that. They want me to upgrade my service and pay more for faster speeds. I told them I would be happy if they delivered what I pay for.
  14. Looks like it is the Verizon network. Maks, you have the same type results I got with similar speed tests. I have emailed Verizon but don't expect anything to come of it. When I was on DSL and had issues with speeds and connection by the time I got to talk to someone at verizon, the connection would miraculously get better. It always stayed bad until I gave in and called to complain.
  15. I have Verizon Fios. It has been hit or miss for the last couple of weeks for me. My connection is nearly as it should be at 20 mb down and 5 mb up for locations on the East Coast. But, anywhere west and the speeds drop to 4-14 mb down and 300k to 1400k up. Anyone else experiencing this?
  16. The president (lower case on purpose) may sign any treaty he wants. It then must be approved by a two thirds vote in the Senate to be ratified and in effect. There have been attempts at this for years. obama has indicated he is all for it but, it will not get 67 votes in the Senate at this time.
  17. :handgestures-thumbupright: I was there once last spring. They had hard to find (at that time) 45 ACP ammo for very reasonable prices. Also IIRC a fairly well filled display case of handguns as well as rifles, new and used.
  18. What the .... does Trinidad and Tobago predictions have to do with actual statistics from the US? The article linked by Tony "Preliminary FBI crime figures for the first half of 2009 show crime falling across the country, even at a time of high unemployment, foreclosures and layoffs. Most surprisingly, murder and manslaughter fell 10 percent for the first half of the year.not 2008 figures." ????????????
  19. Expect to head up that way Sunday AM. Bringing a friend along, might not get there til 10ish. Its the best gun show I've ever attended. Forks of the Delaware show at the Agriculture Center. Not Eagle Arms. The Eagle Arms shows that I've been to suck.
  20. Hard to say without pictures. My first thought is, with rust you described, 3 to 5 hundred. There are Colt Series 80 45 ACP guns on Gunbroker.com and Guns America.com advertised as like new or excellent condition for 6-800. Rust would kill it for me.
  21. I just came from a club meeting. CJRPC has closed just the pits at this time for lead cleanup and rearrangement to add several more. Currently there are 6 pits. At the present time the plans are to have 14 pits of varying lengths and widths. The rifle and pistol ranges will remain open except for deer hunting season December 7 through December 12. Also, there will be intermittent closing of the skeet and trap fields for some cleanup. The pit project should take about four months to complete. There is always the possibility of delay due to weather and getting required permits.
  22. According to my info you do not have to remove the bumper to replace headlamp bulbs. It is counter productive to guess at all these other possibilities and not check the bulbs. In my 45 years repairing cars there have been countless times my customers claimed both lights went out at the same time. Usually they did not notice the first to go. Get at the rear of the headlight assembly. There is a round cover that unscrews. The bulb is then held in with a metal spring clip. Check the bulbs. Do not check for power to the bulbs with a voltmeter. Use a 12 volt test light. Power is supplied through fuses for each lamp. One fuse for left high, right high, left low and right low. Circuit is completed to ground by the light control module. If you have DRL (Daytime Running Lights) the problem is not the ground connection. There is only one ground for all the lights through the light control module. If you like I would be happy to look at it for you.
  23. Good move! I'll be looking forward to welcoming you, Booyakasha! and the rest of the new members at next weeks general membership meeting.
