    9mm Carry options

Walther PPS. Shoots nice, accurate, and a well built gun. There was one for sale here recently.
  2. I usually laser bore sight about 2 inches low at 25 yds while at the house. This will give me close to a 50 yd zero. I then do a 50 yd zero at the range.
  3. That came out great! The Rem 870 is an awesome gun. I have one over 30 yrs old that functions and looks close to new.
  4. They make very nice belts. I have one a couple years old and it's still like new. It's the best one that I've owned to date. I wear it all the time with jeans. This would be too much with dress clothes, but they make quality belts. I have this: http://www.bullhidebelts.com/Black-Wildlife-Bullhide-Belt_p_354.html
  5. It was the mag catch that gave me the problem. I like the Tapco better than the promag. They seem to be uniform and fit better in my rifle.
  6. It's best to get there early when it opens or later in the afternoon. Most clear out after 2:30.
  7. It's normal. Mine has no brake with a nut welded and no bayo lug. Mine had feeding problems, but I fixed it by changing the mag catch. The mag catch was filed a little too short and didn't get a solid mag lock-up. I put a Tak Latch on it and fitted it to Tapco mags and it's been flawless.
  8. +1 - I do the same with black magic marker. I can easily sort my brass out and know how many times it's been fired.
  9. I've shot both the 9mm and .40 and prefer the .40. I own the .40 that takes the glock (G22) mags and it's a great shooter. No problems with it. I made a bolt handle cover from the rubber piece that goes around a large retractable pen.
  10. Sweet looking rifle! I'll have a M1 eventually.
  11. Yes - have your FID with you and yes, Salomons is awesome. Just get there 1/2 hour before they open. The circular cash register is great!
  12. That is a beautiful pistol. I don't know if I could resist not shooting it.
  13. I have thousands of .40 cases. I've only thrown away a few that split at the case mouth, but I don't have a lot of reloads on them since I have so many. I probably have a couple of 5 gallon pails full and cycle them. I'd be careful with any showing signs of loose primer pockets and probably save them for scrap.
  14. I would leave as is and just clean the cosmo off of it. Try to keep it original.
  15. Did you check Meltzer's in Garfield? They always had GP100's , but that was before all the craziness happened. I would definitely choose 357 over 327 just for ammo availability. I reload so I can always get 38/357 brass. I paid close to 550 for mine, but that was about 4 yrs. ago.
  16. I have a Mod 10 heavy barrel from the mid 70's. It's a classic & shoots great. It has a notched rear sight and not adjustable. The stock wood grip is on the small side, but you can replace them if needed.
  17. There are ton's of them out in Ramapo state park
  18. Great collection you have there. The .40 S&W is sweet!
  19. I don't know if ammo prices will ever get to where they were. I'm guessing there will be a slight increase and it depends on how much stock there is and demand. The dollar is getting devalued with our government printing press.
  20. OK, if this is a serious question... 1. Greater than 10 rounds is not large capacity, it's standard capacity. 2. Many guns are shipped stock with greater than 10 rounds. That means manufacturers or dealers need to make changes so we can buy them. This makes it more difficult to purchase certain pistols. 3. If 2 guys break into my home with many rounds, I want as many as possible to keep the field equal and to have a chance. 4. We are already restricted with mag capacity at 15. When does it stop? 5. If 10 round mag limit passes, less than 10 will be next. 6. The mag limit restriction has no bearing on safety. It's only purpose is to limit the law abiding. Do you see why this is bad?
  21. For precision rifle rounds, you need to trickle charge. Get the charge close to where you want with a powder drop, then trickle charge (use powder trickle) a couple of grains at a time to hit the mark. I use a RCBS 1500 digital scale which is very accurate and consistent. You're going to have to try different powders and charges to find the sweet spot in your rifle. I'm using Varget in .223 rounds and have shot under 1/4MOA at 100yds in a bolt gun.
  22. Vlad The 3 die set will work, however, I like using the Lee factory crimp die to taper crimp. I separate the seat & crimp operation. The FCD allows you to fine tune the crimp and does a full length size on the round. I have loaded thousands of 9mm, 40S&W, and 45ACP using this method and have had no feed problems due to round size. Maybe it's not needed depending on the dies you're using, but I like knowing that there is a final size check and the completed round is to factory specs. I use all previously fired brass with no problems. I'm also using the FCD in .223 rounds and have been making some awesome shooting match grade ammo.
  23. Thanks for sharing. It would be great if we could get links like this everyday.
  24. Calling spring turkey is awesome. A friend and I each got one on the same day. It helps to go scouting before the season starts. Go early in the morning and bring a basic box call. Look for scratchings and listen for them. We used to hunt Wawayanda State Park and a few places in Vernon. They have amazing eyesight and can fly quite fast.
