While at Ft. Dix this afternoon, my K98 decided to give me an issue. Many of the rounds were coming back half black. I finally noticed it when I got some debris that hit me in the face while shooting (felt like getting hit with sand) The gun was cleaned last week, and shot about 30 rounds today perfectly fine before this happened. All the same ammunition (Aim Surplus Romanian) that it has had about 400 through it since I bought the rifle. I immediately stopped firing the rifle, and took a picture of one of the casings. Any thoughts?

Its funny you post this up, because I am currently trying to see what the gun laws are here where I live...I want to shoot some clays in my back yard (10acres with nothing but a 300 acre field next to me) but want to make sure I can shoot first. I highly doubt its an issue though.

Thanks. Yeah that's basically what happened here. Unfortunately for me, I was working some insane hours (80+ a week) then was laid off and now I do not really have the money to spend on a day out of paintball. However, I think we are going to set something up once the weather breaks if anyone is interested. We have gone to "On Target" in Pemberton since we can never get enough to go to the woods anymore. I will post up if anyone would be interested in going. It would be a Sunday. I also know Ft. Dix has some paintball fields that I want to try...we could set up a day of paintball, then get in on some evening shooting at Range 14 :-)

I used to be in it really big up until about a year ago. We gradually lost our places to go (woodsball) My main setups are a Tippmann 98 for my long ball games (completely customized including the polished internals I have done on all the 98s and A5's I have built for people. My pride and joy marker is my Automag R/T (Level 10 anti-chop bolt, Dye trigger frame, an assortment of barrels for type of play, warp feed, dye 4500 PSI tank, etc, etc, etc. Accurate, fast, easy to take care of...its been so long since it has even been out of the case. I also own: Tippmann A-5 Tippmann 98Custom PMI Trracer pump I was also building a completely custom Automag ReTro up until we stopped. My R/T Mag a few years ago.

Maks just remember they put the lights on for us last time. I would enjoy having an evening shoot, so I would be willing to hang out, stay, and put a few rounds down range during the evening.

I am 99% sure I will be there.

I went today, those Garands were just in from the Philippines, and are pretty well trashed. The K98s were pretty well priced, and I may go back for one tomorrow, have not decided yet. What the heck...another K98 cant hurt. :roll:

If you find out, let me know...I would love to replace my synthetic stock also.

Youre telling me, I keep telling my one friend we should go check out a few spots, but I know if there is still ice left (its thick enough we cant fish through it, and thin enough we cant walk on it. I am counting the days until I can get out there. I have a few new spots for pics and LMB to try. Late last season and very early last season I did go out in some cold weather. Early in the year I had a little luck with some smaller bass, later in the year I had no luck at all. If I do get out I will post up. I have been itching to try some of the canals up your way, I hear they are some good areas.

I bought my Mauser from Cheyenne. I was going to buy a Mossberg 500 (same one I bought a few months later) but when I saw the Mauser, I knew I had to bring it home with me. Once I looked it over, I was out the door 15 minutes later. I have bought three firearms from them and every time it went smoothly.

Since I am not signed up to read the Register News online, I cant view the online article however just a little over a mile from me in North Hanover a week and a half ago two men were shot during a home invasion. Initial reports were drug related, however now I cant find the print article in the house that I set out to read the other night. From what I was told the two men who were shot were the homeowners, and the shooters were never caught. Last I heard were the two victims were still alive.

Alex, next time you go shooting, or want to come down to range 14 let me know. I need to get out and get some more range time in.
