  1. Personally I have the Ruger MkIII 22/45 and I love it. It takes a few times of tearing it down for cleaning before it gets easy to do so, but that is the only negative about the gun. Otherwise its fun, reliable, and incredibly accurate.
  2. To keep the value see if he has it if not still a nice looking gun you will have fun with it. post what country its from if you can Oh its definitely Chinese. Has Chinese writing on it along with the "Made in Norinco China" though it does have a symbol I'm pretty sure I've seen on Mosins that I'm trying to figure out. Its a triangle with the lines that form an arrow at the top of the triangle.
  3. So the other day my friend tells me he needs some money and made the hard decision to sell his SKS. So I decided to help him out by offering to take it off his hands. I'm pretty sure its chinese as he gave me the spike bayonet that came with it and spikes were typically chinese. Not sure if you can tell in the picture, but its equipped with a polymer Dragunov style stock, shell deflector, and a Leahers 6x32 scope. I honestly don't know much about these rifles so if anyone can tell me any issues I should look out for or maybe a way to look up the service record (if any) I'd appreciate it.
  4. Weds sounds better to me. Then I wouldn't have to choose between wing night at hooters with my friends or shooting at BA.
  5. Especially a bad idea in Woodbridge. The PD here don't like gun owners one bit.
  6. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.22_Long_Rifle#Subsonic Basically its used for hunting small game without causing as much flesh damage (more meat available).
  7. Congrats, though I recommend your next purchase be a 22 like a Browning Buckmark or a Ruger MkIII. You'll get more range time with a 22 then you will with your XD which means more practice to improve your shooting. Plus every time you pull the trigger you'll see bullets instead of dollar signs punching holes in your range targets. You'll end up spending around the same for a brick of 500 - 550 for a 22 as you would for a box of 50 for your XD. My first gun is my Ruger MkIII 22/45 and I don't regret it as I've pumped around 2000 rounds through it already. The practice and money savings make it worth it.
  8. Hey if I can figure it out you can too! But seriously its not that hard it just takes time for all the parts to wear in enough to slide apart and back together easily. Oh and you just gotta remember about the pin that's inside the grip.
  9. I believe the answer to your question comes to another question: Is the airsoft gun capable of causing bodily injury or death? If the answer is yes, then yes, it is a firearm in NJ. I can find the exact wording of the statute later, when I get home from work. Death unlikely, bodily injury... does a little sting count?
  10. Here's a question, does NJ consider Airsoft guns the same as BB guns? I got a little clear plastic Mossberg 590 replica I bought from Walmart in PA for a Halloween costume and I wanted to take it into the back yard to shoot some cans with it since I have some 1000 plastic pellets that came with it.
  11. Even if it is NJ legal some dealers will refuse to sell you anything. I've had it happen to me when I went to Valley Forge. Guy was going into his case to pull a 1911 out for me and asked if I was a PA resident. When I told him I was from NJ he immediately locked it back up and told me to get lost.
  12. My Ruger Mk3 22/45 prefers the Federal Champions which are in the same price range as the Thunderbolts, just lack the excess wax and copper jacket. Personally I haven't fired any Remington through my gun, but with my Uncle's Ruger Mk2 Competition the Remington ammo turned it into a jam-o-matic so I am hesitant on trying it in mine. With the Federal I've run 900 rounds of it through my Ruger so far and I've only had 1 stove pipe & 2 duds. The stove pipe I blame on the fact it occurred after the 500 round mark without cleaning because of how the casing wasn't ejected.
  13. This is from home on comcast. I don't care that much for upload speeds as I don't upload much stuff. Download is nice though. If you saw what I get at work you'd all shit yourselves.
  14. Damn.. took me 9 weeks to get mine. Did they try lying to you too about the background check times?
  15. As long as my friends don't drag me to Hooters again I'll be there.
  16. That's what I've been noticing. Save some FTF's if you have them and send a letter. I currently have some issues with the box of Winchester 555's where the FTF's are averaging 10%. I'm going to save a bunch from the range next Sunday and ship them back, they want to take a look at them. I'm sure they will make it right as they seem to have good customer service. Remington probably does as well. I probably should have done that with my CCI Minimags... was averaging 1 FTF every 50 rounds. Right now with the Federal Champions I have I've gone through 300 rounds without a single hick up and the gun was cleaner compared to the same amount of Minimags fired.
  17. Just curious if people are having problems with Remington ammo lately. My uncle has been shooting Remington 40grain hollow point 22lr in his Ruger MkII and has been having FTF's quite often. My friend Tony just purchased some 9mm Remington ammo and its all failing to cycle in his S&W Model 59. Having fired both guns with said ammo personally I noticed the slide/bolt isn't pulling back far enough on either gun to properly cycle. So has Remington's quality control gone down, changed their recipe to borderline standard to reduce costs, or both?
  18. Think their email server is up to snuff to handle that kind of pounding?
  19. I've never been asked for out of state purchases. Unless I'm buying a long gun as far as they're concerned I'm that quiet neighbor down the road no one hears from.
  20. All it really is, is a ballistics calculator to help you sight your scope. There's another app out there for the iPhone that also gets the weather and has a database for the ammo brand you're using. If you're like me and you have an Android phone (T-Mobile G1, MyTouch 3G, etc) just search ballistics on the market and you'll find a free ballistics calculator.
  21. Doesn't look like I'm going to make it. Woke up this morning fine and right around lunch time a cold kicked in. It hasn't broken yet so I doubt it'll pass till tomorrow morning. And I was looking forward to going to BA this week.
  22. Assuming my friends don't hijack me to goto Hooter's for wing night again I'll be there with my Ruger.
