  1. It's also a tube rail with no picatinny on top which for someone looking for a quad rail would be a horrible suggestion. I started a post as a FYI for someone looking for a SMOS quad rail for $75 off. That's about 30% off of retail price. I thought this was a forum for discussion on good deals. Not how a quad rail stacks up to a tube rail or what looks like a $95 knock off of a Noveske NSR (which is another SMOS built product). I could start a thread for $500 off a Knights armament upper and there would be posts asking what it does that their stag arms doesn't do.
  2. That depends on what you are comparing it to. I've held plenty of quad rails that I've hated. This happens to be one I liked and it was on sale for $75 cheaper. I sometimes forget that this forum caters to a different type of AR builder/owner.
  3. For someone looking for a SMOS quad rail it is
  4. https://instagram.com/p/BK9vHuDjg6t/ Can't beat that price.
  5. its not NJ but why not just go to the best. ATEi. I had them do a glock for me. turn around time was fast. work is amazing. they do it right.
  6. nor should you. but if you were paying a lawyer to keep you out of jail, wouldn't you want him to err on the side of caution
  7. isn't that what you want though? I'm sure you could ignore any of the things he says you "should" do in his book and he will gladly accept your $ and do his best to try to get you out of trouble, but had you listened to him to start, you wouldn't be in trouble to begin with.
  8. thanks. ill make sure to update my mental library of insanely stupid NJ laws to spread correct info.
  9. so you are in agreement with those that say your wife cannot take your handgun to the range without you being there with her?
  10. That kind of contradicts everything about temporary transfers. Maybe the law is worded incorrectly or correctly but according to this part of the law,how would it not be an illegal transfer. (UPDATED THROUGH P.L. 2016, ch.23, and JR 1 of 2016) TITLE 2C THE NEW JERSEY CODE OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE 2C:58-3.1. Temporary transfer of firearms 2C:58-3.1. Temporary transfer of firearms 1. a. Notwithstanding the provisions of N.J.S.2C:39-9, N.J.S.2C:58-2, N.J.S.2C:58-3 or any other statute to the contrary concerning the transfer or disposition of firearms, the legal owner, or a dealer licensed under N.J.S.2C:58-2, may temporarily transfer a handgun, rifleor shotgun to another person who is 18 years of age or older, whether or not the person receiving the firearm holds a firearms purchaser identification card or a permit to carry a handgun. The person to whom a handgun, rifle or shotgun is temporarily transferred by the legal owner of the firearm or a licensed dealer may receive, possess, carry and use that handgun, rifle or shotgun, if the transfer is made upon a firing range operated by a licensed dealer, by a law enforcement agency, a legally recognized military organization or a rifle or pistol club which has filed a copy of its charter with the superintendent and annually submits to the superintendent a list of its members and if the firearm is received, possessed, carried and used for the sole purpose of target practice, trap or skeet shooting, or competition upon that firing range or instruction and training at any location. A transfer under this subsection shall be for not more than eight consecutive hours in any 24-hour period and may be made for a set fee or an hourly charge. The firearm shall be handled and used by the person to whom it is temporarily transferred only in the actual presence or under the direct supervision of the legal owner of the firearm, the dealer who transferred the firearm or any other person competent to supervise the handling and use of firearms and authorized to act for that purpose by the legal owner or licensed dealer. The legal owner of the firearm or the licensed dealer shall be on the premises or the property of the firing range during the entire time that the firearm is in the possession of the person to whom it is temporarily transferred.
  11. No clarification needed. Your wife cannot touch your handgun or you hers inside your home. It would be an illegal transfer. Now, would any issues arise if she used it to kill a home intruder, that's the 25-50 year question
  12. If she's not going to get her own fpid and p2p then just get whatever you want. My wife picked a g17 gen4. I wish it was in my name actually
  13. Why not let her pick. To me, any gun that's a "girls gun" is just a sales tactic to sell guns that aren't good enough to hang with the big boys
  14. File a FOIA request. It shouldn't be that hard to do
  15. no luck. there was a bill passed, signed by christie, that keeps gun owners names private
  16. True. But very few residential security containeds are actually burglary rated. I was being overly simplistic. Generally, the safer it is and more fire rated it is, the more it weighs. I didn't mean to lead on to say that the fireproofing necessary adds to the time it would take to break into it (although it could )
  17. Weight and fireproofing is what makes it "safe".
  18. But it's still a static range. It's great for the purpose of exposing round count failures but that wouldn't cover any failures due to foreign contaminates, bumping into things, over gassing issues, etc.
  19. That battlefield Vegas video had some good info but it's not a conclusive test.
  20. Exceeds the tdp would be simple. A high power X-ray of every bolt instead of HPT would be better but $$$. Hodge defense used a supposedly superior aluminum alloy in their rifles. If a rifle used a geissele ssa one could argue that's exceeds the tdp. FN has the double thick chrome lining for the m249 barrels that they sell to noveske, spikes, palmetto, centurion, etc. none of those are milspec but they are all an improvement. Not to mention fit and finish. If you take a measurement +/- .002" and make it .001" that would fall within the tdp but still be better( assuming there was an advantage to making the tolerance tighter
  21. I purchased a 458 socom mag with the red follower and can confirm that you cannot load 5.56 into it and have it feed reliably. I may try to make them myself and put these on the bottom. http://parallaxtactical.com/products/pxt-458-socom-floorplate I'm not a huge fan of the extra large engraving on the side.
