  1. According to NJ law If I travel to one of our local ranges that rents handguns, and then ask to look at an unloaded Beretta 92FS or purchase some hand gun ammunition I am required to show a FID. Now if I don't have a FID, they can't even let me touch the gun and would not be able to sell me the ammo. :naughty: But, there would be no issue letting me rent the gun and buy ammo for the handgun, heck they would even show me how to load and shoot it. Just want to make sure I got this correct.
  2. My $0.02 Shotgun definitely has the stopping power but with kids around, it is very hard to secure in a fashion that makes it readily available. Rifle again has the stopping power, but is hard to secure, and you had better be damn sure about whats behind your target as overpenetration is definitely an issue. Handgun less stopping power but easy to secure and overpenetration risks are reduced You need to pick the tool that fits your needs. For my situtation I use a handgun.
  3. Why spend all the extra money on Minimags when you can get the same performance out of Federal bulk packages 36 grain - 1260 fps 40 grain - 1240 fps for about 1/2 the price viewtopic.php?f=57&t=9222
  4. Exactly my point. More criminals, now they wear white jackets with name tags. Falsifying a prescription is a crime. So more regulations and regulators will be made to police the doctors. Just because you can get away with it doesn't mean it ain't illegal.
  5. This is the biggest fallacy about legalizing pot. It's legal for medical use only. Recreational use and addicts can't get it legally so they go the same old route of getting it off the street. So now we are going to be hit with the costs of all the current drug enforcement laws plus all the cost associated with regulating pot. Since its medical use it won't be taxed so no new source of income to offset the expenses. Lose Lose situation
  6. Use the shoe analogy Q: Why do you need so many guns? A: Why do you need so many shoes? Just tell her it cost the same as 2 pairs of shoes.
  7. To an extent. You are actually protecting the firing pin from slamming into the steel breech face. Each time you fire the gun it will dent the rim after you have hit the same spot enough times it will thin the rim of the brass so that the firing pin is impacting the breech face. A cheap snap cap is a box of those plastic drywall anchors in a #10(?) size.
  8. I think its just age difference. He's like what 22? while the others ar mid 30 and up. He just has a different perspective on life. I think Kelly is the best natural shooter. He has been in every red team elimination and won every one. For a "rifle guy" he's done pretty good with pistols, shotguns and bows.
  9. Only as you currently know it. You now start Life 2.0 Congrats
  10. Staples. They use a very heavy laminate, only cost ~1 buck
  11. I stand corrected, and applaud Hoboken's policies.
  12. +1 I made the mistake (once) of adding polish with the brass and wound up with a bunch of clumped up media and polish in the brass that I had to pick out.
  13. So if an Az state trooper pulls over a car that is carrying several hundred pound of heroin they can't make an arrest. I would think that this is a DEA matter isn't it. Same with a murder across state lines, would an officer not be able to make an arrest of a person wanted for murder in another state?
  14. Is an FPID required to purchase primers and powder? Sometimes I get asked sometimes I don't. Is there any law or "guidance" on this?
  15. WTF? Bitter or resentful because he went to serve his country? He didn't take time off for a vacation. What is wrong with these people?
  16. I sure hope the CO didn't have hollow points in his gun, or he will get screwed.
  17. Not a 96FS. And it's 9mm. You know I'm a 10mm guy and would never buy another gun in 40 Short & Weak. Please if you are going to insult a round use the proper phrase "40 Short and Wimpy"
  18. Got some primers from Sayreville Sportsman on Friday. They were fully stocked on primers. ~35/1k
  19. I guess this locking system isn't so great if the trunk of the car can be broken into, the "locking system" ( whatever the hell that is) is disabled and NO ONE in a residential area notices?
  20. Withholding opinion because of lack of details. Old man says they nearly ran him over. So he wasn't in the house, he was in the driveway(?). Were he and the crooks on his property? Did the shooting occur before the old guy was almost run over or after? Too many questions unanswered to make a decision.
  21. Had the same issue. I thought I had screwed something up. but after pulling the bullets to check the powder, I found powder was fine. Checking brass head stamps lead me to the issue different brass manufacturers cases weigh different amounts. I did some checking on .40 brass and had up to 7 grains difference in brass. Checking the weight of a loaded round will just give you headaches. I check the powder on the first 10 rounds I make and then every 10th after that. if I'm with .2 grains of what I looking for I keep going.
  22. According to Lyman (based on a similar cast 200 gr bullet Lyman 452630) , the suggested starting load is 4.9 gr Bullseye to a max of 6 gr. The 3.8 seems to be a pretty light load. I have had the same kind of soot behavior when I load light. If the load is accurate and you don't get any squibs, what the heck the grime is easy to wash off.
  23. Rahway firearms guild hase consignment and used guns for sale, I have seen some consignment ones at ShoreShot
