  1. I commented on this post 14 hours ago. Though my response may be controversial, there hasn't been any response from others. I'm very surprised. A more in depth question is, have we become culturally unable to destroy those who wish us death or bodily harm?
  2. Just ponder this... Ever see a Viet Cong (or any other non- western combatant) with PTSD? Though, you have a point, I can't relate. Just something to think about
  3. Headspace, headspace, headspace. Have the bolt of any 10/22 headspaced and accuracy will improve. Stock barrel or not.
  4. Here Paul, this will burn their ass.... Hey Paul are you a Class III dealer? I'd rather deal with someone I now for a full auto.
  5. Oxpho is what the pro's use for touch. up. Just do the spots you need done. Watch a youtube video
  6. degrease with alcohol and apply with Q-tip until it matches
  7. Use OXPHO-Blue liquid or paste: http://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-tools-supplies/metal-prep-coloring/metal-bluing/liquid-cold-bluing-chemicals/oxpho-blue--prod1072.aspx?
  8. I totally agree. I see too many guys try to buy there way in to Long Range Precision. After a good barrel/action/trigger and rifle, ammunition tailoring is the next component. Now all that being said, The nut behind the trigger has to be screwed tight. Lastly, to make these ULTRA Long Range shots, the stars have to be aligned and your jar of Karma full. And believe me I'm not taking anything away from the skill of the sniper.... But at these distances you don't hear the report right away and don't really know where the shot is coming from, thus the shooter gets multiple attempts to make the shot with his spotter's correcting instructions. Hat's off to that Canuck. Quite a job. I'm sure given the opportunity a Yank could do as well but we have a different MOS.
  9. Ray - All BS aside...If that bitch is shooting flames out the cylinder gap and this is a new revolver send the f&ck!ing thing back. You paid $400 + for the revolver and get a prepaid label off the bastards. From what you're describing this is criminal.
  10. Puppy - The brass is normal especially IIRC because your revolver has a semi rough textured finish. Hoppes will take it right off. Flame thrower concerns me. Excessive cylinder gap or timing. You can check cylinder gap with a feeler gauge but timing you need a range rod which you don't have. Let's see what the big guys say. ^^^ True , true , true Buy a GLOCK Perfection
  11. Here's a BIG!!! hint. When you ship a firearm for bluing, if you can strip it to bare components and just send the parts you want blued and you can save money. On your Smith this means removing the cylinder and crane and strip it. Strip the frame of all hammer / trigger components and springs reinstall the side plate and screws. Just sending the parts you want blued.
  12. These are the guys I use: http://www.eastcoastbluing.com/ Nice work, they don't grind them up. Deep bluing and no spots. Equal to factory S&W blue. I have no affiliation and they are just outside of Goshen,NY
  13. Rob - Only members can vote. Members who are known to be of good character...
  14. Well I'm pleased as punch!! I just was notified that I'll be voted on for membership acceptance to Palmetto Gun Club Pistol bays, Cowboy action sets, 100yd range, and 300-800yd range. Total 600 members Great place to "reach out" and 15 minutes from my house.
  15. No wise ass it was The Wizard of Oz at the Fabian theater in Hoboken
  16. I'm assuming his heart gave out. We will miss him. My daughter, a paramedic. Was on a call a few years ago when he had a problem. She felt he was like famous, and he was. I used to deliver consignments of firearms to him in the late 70's and he was a gentleman. God's speed Frank Caso!
  17. The major thing to consider when buying a scope is your budget. Buy the best you can afford. Like I said, I shoot a Sightron SIII which at about $900 is an outstanding value. On my 6mmAR capable of shooting 107gr bullets for extreme ranges I shoot a Nightforce Benchrest 12-42. The Nightforce is a loaner and I wouldn't be shooting a $2k scope otherwise. Next question. you need the capability of ranging with the scope? If so you should have a FFP. You mentioned a NF Benchrest in your first post. WOW!!! price is down to $1400 Excellent deal.
  18. @OP - Good evening. Now I have no idea of your capability and choosing a rifle/caliber for some one is like buying them underwear I'll make no recommendations just throw some facts and opinions out there. If you're gonna shoot distance just shoot. Even 22lr at 50/75/100yds. Shoot a decent rifle/scope/ammo prone and make little groups. I'll practice on a 3/4" dot and it's about group. You can always change POI. If you go out to 100yds w/ a 22lr you'll learn to read wind. You can't buy your way into shooting well. One of my favorite rifles is a Savage 12 w/ Sightron 8-32 in 243 Win. Not pricey! You had better learn to hand load. Not only cost but you want to tailor your ammo to your rifle. This is how you achieve precision. Learn what makes a rifle shoot well. Barrel, bedding, trigger quality and ammo. Know what to expect of your bullet, performance wise, over the distance you're shooting. Be able to formulate impact solutions based on your ammo and distance. Now I shoot mostly fixed distances so, I don't have to range. You will need to know how to work with MOA and MRAD. Ask questions and as I think of more stuff I'll just spit it out.
  19. I'm proud of the maturity and wisdom you have gained, puppy!
  20. You're thinking about 7.62X39 I guess. Sweet, thread the barrel and shoot heavy subsonics with a can. Sorry forgot you're in Jersey...
  21. Cage plays one of my favorite Russians but, then I have a lot of favorite Russians. And, let us not forget, "I want the gun of Rambo" BTW that's a true story.
