  1. My Saiga AK is about 2 years old. I just noticed during cleaning that the piston has just the slightest movement in the bolt carrier. Previous opinions are conflicting such as........... - that's bad; it will wreck your rifle, fix it. or - that's how AKs are built; fugedabodit. Anyone, anyone??????????????
  2. I used a reamer, 'uniformer' and cleaning brush and still had trouble but only on the S&B. The problem was getting a few thousandths primer depth.
  3. The RS side mount is about the tightest, lowest profile mount you will find. Check it out. Now my snobby opinion. I took the scope off my AK. The AK is not a scope gun. Maybe a dot gun. Definitely an iron sight gun. You just have to work real hard at 100 yards to gain any proficiency.
  4. Yes, the AK brass, 762x39, gets a serious dent. Some is taken out at sizing. Then it fire forms when you shoot it again. So you have to pad the receiver cover (mentioned above). I do it but it's pretty 'hoaky'. I am on reload #6 with some S&B brass with no dent problems. (some folks hate S&B, BTW - my problems were at the primer end) No good reason why I reload M43. Guess I don't like steel. And always analyzing my shooting - was it me, the gun or the ammo?? HA! Sometimes I think -'go buy a real gun!', but I love my AK.
  5. http://www.cabelas.com/custserv/custserv.jsp?pageName=christiana For me one hour away. Sorry if posted elsewhere.
  6. I want to shoot one of those 5 inch groups at 100 yards with no optic. Anybody try one of the several - FO or crosshair or Tritium front posts? If my eyes were 25 years old I wouldn't be asking.
  7. "Oh the fun I've had ridding my house of squirrels with a 177 air rifle. Worked well on rabbits too." Just curious - what about hunting laws, etc. 450 foot limit???
  8. Whoa! Whoa! Don't know what's really itching him but here is what itches me. I did read a book, Studied the odds a bit. But it's just a bit of fun for pennies, dimes, mebbee a couple of bucks. Aint gonna ruin my life. Read my lips: JUST A BIT OF FUN. And duh, casinos are in the business of making money by setting the odds in their favor. Don't like that? Go play tennis. Shoot some bullets. Kill a deer. And another WOW. LOL.
  9. I agree we should employ Nappen. However he is in the business of selling his books. Why not just use the thumb in the belt loop trick? Or buy the Slide Fire. But either way, please send me the list of ranges where you can blast away and not get gigged.
  10. Posted Today, 01:43 AM lunker, on 14 Dec 2013 - 5:40 PM, said: Can't restate this enough. We all need to realize that the Christie vetoes of 2013 only bought us a little more time, nothing more. ************************************* You two guys are so right. And there will be more. You won't have any lead on your fingers in the future. And your new style ammo will be 2x in price. Call me a pessimist.
  11. "The NJSP has info on everything you own. Never fear, they're keeping an eye out..." I understand your point and a good point. However not 'everything'. Eg., out of state purchases, in state long gun transfers, gifts, maybe more. They may have some / most of the initial transaction paperwork but not the full trail into the end zone.
  12. Too many unanswered questions here. Anybody with a REAL GRIP on this, please post. The airsoft was 'unlicensed'??? Huh? Maybe the cops were just plain wrong. No license required. The Graves Act seems to be about the use or application of the weapon. Shooting the ducky is OFF the list of bad activities. Can we pay Nappen to join the NJGF for a price?????????????? Thanks.
  13. Posted 12 November 2010 - 09:30 PM Is there a AK photo thread? I never like AK style rifles, but all of the sudden, I LOVE THEM. I just lost all interest in the AR style rifles. Just want to see what you guys have and maybe get ideas for accessories. ie triangle metal stock How about that original post? It just proves that loving AKs is a fad. Loving ARs is a fad. But all those fads are good. Enjoy whatever you have. Wanna debate - join your high school debate team. Maybe join Toastmasters Intl. LOL. Love your AK (or AR or ..........) whether the gas block is 27, 45, 68 or 90 degrees.....................
  14. Yep, I had trouble contacting by phone. So I just took my chances with a visit. Bought Reloader 7, 1lb. And Federal #100, SPP.
  15. I guess you could call 310 a Russian 308. You need 310 for AK and SKS built outside USA. Officially it is the M43 cartridge. You could use 308 but it would not launch properly and the AK and SKS already are not the most accurate. If I were previously smarter I would have bought a 308WIN black gun to go with my 308WIN bolt gun and then 40SW Beretta. Keep life simple - minimize the list of calibers. When you need 9 and 45 and 223 and 30-06 and and and........... it becomes a mess. But I don't blame anybody for liking their many guns. LOL. And yes everybody has to have something in 22LR!!
  16. Pretty good experience. The old dude was friendly. They had my powder, primers and more. So I whip out the VISA and he says 'cash or checks, there is a MAC in town'. So I leave to get cash, return and all is well. He seems to have stock all over the place. At one point he just leaves the building and comes back with five lbs. of powder for a customer. Very low overhead. I like it!
  17. LOCK Poker is pretty nice. Basically a carbon copy of Poker Stars (which will someday hopefully start with a Resorts connection). Look for my same avitar. LOL. One problem - not a ton of players right now. The phone apps are pretty much non-existent. If you know of any please give the exact links, etc.
  18. Thanks for the answers. So I searched and searched and and and............... Problem Solved. Gunbroker - 1000 bullets, 310, FMJ, Hornady, 123. ~21c ea.
  19. There ya go. Time to visit Cabelas in Hamburg. Just be carefull - no scary looking silencers on the rifle barell. Or see my ad for a Ruger Air Hawk!!
  20. Can't find hide nor hair of 310, 123gr bullets. Anybody have a clue?? XTREME has some plated - close but they are 312. What's up with that? At this point don't care if they are HP, FMJ, SP or other....... Never been there but maybe T n T or Salomons???????????
  21. Cheyenne is selling two models of pistol grip shotguns. This is legal because????? They are pump? They are NOT semi auto? I had thought that ANY PG was verboten. Thx.
  22. One more time. I think the topic here is nutty laws - guns and hunting. Given all the above I see that centerfire is not allowed at the WMA ranges. Logic has escaped the nut house.
  23. Thanks Jon. Wow. I just find that to be amazing in the state of NJ with all of the conservative hunting rules.
  24. You can hunt coyote with up to .25 cal centerfire, SP or HP up to 80 gr. So does that not include an AR?? Confused.
