  1. Thanks for uploading some pics bro! I still can't upload on here and it's frustrating. It was a perfect fall day today and the clays were flying…and getting dusted! Thanks to everyone for coming out and although the pumpkins still lived to see a few more days, hopefully they last until next shootout.
  2. Always next time bro. Hey I'm tryin to upload some pics in this thread and I'm gettig error can't upload. Where it says how big of file sizes you can upload I see "the max amount of file size you can upload is 'uploading of files not allowed.'" Any chance youknow what's goin on?
  3. Beautiful day out here everyone! If you were on the fence about coming, get in the car and get over here!
  4. I love AK's but this thread makes my head hurt. You're all just beating a dead horse at this point. Now can we just weld on muzzle brakes, shave bayo lugs, and enjoy shooting our AK's please?
  5. Specs may be low-level for it though. Like buying a top notch 55'' is the same price as a minimal spec 60''. Either way 350 is cheap!
  6. I didn't check the hunters ed course schedule beforehand. That's lame, those old guys can be...well, cranky old guys. We will set up on the opposite side and hope for the best. Save the fun stuff for after they leave :-)
  7. 8. I understand and that was a good test to try (I've heard of 5-10%) but the shingles underneath the array are still receiving weather changes. Just because there are panels sitting 4-6inches above the shingles doesn't mean they are not still exposed to the elements. Sure, the shingles may not be receiving direct sunlight and according to your test, they were 15 degrees cooler but it's still hot as hell under there during the summer. Some people say that the attic will be cooler with panels on your roof but IMO, the array would have to max out your perfectly oriented southern roof with barely, if any at all, sun on the adjacent roofs with no panels. All roofs have at least two sides so just because you may have an array on one side doesn't mean the sun is hitting the other roof and increasing the attic temperature.
  9. Hmmm are you guys sure about this? As far as I understood it, any magazine over 15rds in NJ is illegal - be it an 18rd magazine for a bolt action .22 or a 20rd magazine for a pump shotgun. I'm pretty surprised to hear this. I just can't see a 40rd drum mag for a pump shotgun being legal in our state.
  10. Any resident from a surrounding Nj state like PA/DE/VA etc must be living on another planet to not know that they should stay out of NJ with any sort of CCW or firearm nonetheless. That doesn't mean I still feel it sucks for this guy, but as this happens more and more, out of state residents really need to start realizing they need to be better informed on NJ/other states gun laws.
  11. You could technically get whatever you want for it but the magazine still cannot be above 15rds/shells.
  12. Here the OP stated what the use was for the pistol...
  13. Two more things - I will disagree with one of the other posters about shingle degradation. Solar panels do not protect the roof. The shingles will still get sunlight, snow, rain, etc. The roof gets VERY hot under panels. If your roof is over 10 years old, I would suggest getting a new roof if you plan on having panels on your roof for 25 years. It's going to cost a lot of money in 15 years to get a crew out to take everything off the roof, have a roof company put on a new one, then have them come back and reinstall everything. It's basically installing a new solar array again. One thing I will suggest is if you don't have the money to replace all the roofs on your house, just replace the roof(s) that the solar will be on. This will allow you to get a new roof for solar but not be a huge cost either. Be careful with getting solar and then thinking "oh I have solar, I can get a hot tub and a pool and leave lights on all day." Most companies will look at the past year or two of electric bills you have and base the size of your system on that. If you get an 8KW system and then decide to get a hot tub and start a welding hobby a few nights a week, you're going to be using a ton more electricity and you will see your electric bills suffer. In the case you want a pool in the next couple years, it may be wise to wait to get solar until the pool is installed for 6 months so the company can see the rise in electric usage and then see how many additional panels you will need to compensate for that extra usage for the pool heater and all that related equipment.
  14. I will make this very short. Be very weary of larger companies like Solar City, Trinity, NRG. They are out to make money off you, not necessarily have you make money yourself. READ the fine print. Those companies take most of the benefits of solar and leave you with no electric bill. Read the fine print. A smaller private company is IMO better because you can take advantage of SRECS, a lower or even no electric bill every month, and some can lock you into the $ per KWH you're paying now. Electricity is never decreasing and will always increase in price per KWH, so to be locked in to what you're roughly paying now and not have to worry about increases is very good. Large companies (the ones i stated before) could care less about making your system look nice. They just want to get your roof array, inverters and electric equipment up and installed as soon as possible to save money. You will have 6 or 8 monkeys on your house and the installation will probably take 1 possibly 2 days. With that said, they most likely will not run any conduit in your attic because it takes a little more time so expect ugly conduit runs coming off the roof, LB's in places you don't want LB's, and the roof junction box outside of the array. The nice thing about a smaller solar company is you can usually work the installers and they will run the conduit from the junction box (located under the array) through the roof, through your attic, punch out through the side of the house and down to the inverters. It's hidden much more and you won't have all of it visible from the front of the house. Some suggestions : Ask about any squirrel guard or critter guard that they can install around your array to protect the wires and panels from wire-destroying squirrels and such. They can and most likely will get under the array, make nests, and chew the wires. Those are all ingredients for wires arcing on your roof and causing a fire. Even if it's an extra grand, I would highly suggest the guard. If you have a lot of money to work with, battery backups are nice and convenient. But they are a lot of money. Plus it all works based on weather/sunlight and if you have a hurricane knocking power out for 2 weeks and have cloudy days, you're not going to be producing a lot of power to charge the batteries. Like others, I'd suggest a backup generator - much cheaper and IMO more optimal and efficient. But if you want the best solar battery back up system, check out the new backup system that Elon Musk of solar city came out with. I've heard good things. If you have the land for it, look into a ground mount. Solar Foundations is a company that usually installs the residential ground mounts and they are good. The advantage of a ground mount is they construct the mount exactly south and at a 30-35 degree pitch (most optimal conditions for solar production). You don't have to worry about 50 holes being drilled into your roof by a possibly incompetent installer which leads to leaks. Very few roofs are perfect for solar - most are not facing due south, most are not optimal pitches, most don't have the space needed for the right amount of panels to reduce your electric bill to nothing. A ground mount has all that and you can put as many panels as you need on one. Make sure that the company will warranty you for a long time (if not 25 yrs, the life of the panels) for not only service, but also all the equipment although most equipment is warrantied under manufacturers warranty. Just make sure if something goes wrong, breaks, ground fault, anything in the future, that the company will warranty it. Most will. Sunpower and SMA are two of the best solar equipment companies out there IMO. Both make solid equipment that works well. Sunpower panels were the most efficient at around 21.5% I believe but Elon Musk of solar city has come up with a panel that is 22% supposedly. The Sunpower Power One inverters had some issues the past year or so with very sensitive ground fault sensors and a lot of them had to be replaced. The SMA Sunny Boys are awesome and have never seen many problems with them. Make sure you have no shading issues. Solar panels are sensitive and can pick up light fairly easily BUT if you have some shade on the roof from surrounding trees, your production will suffer…most likely drastically. With regular solar panels, they are installed on the roof in "strings" with usually 5-8 panels on each string. If a few panels are shaded, they can shut down that whole string and you will lose a lot of production. If the solar company says there will be some shade on your array "but it's not a big deal," I would not trust them. With that said, if you do have some minor shading issues with maybe some shading in the morning and then nothing in the middle of day onto afternoon, then another option is looking into Solar Edge Optimizers (basically micro inverters) and another brand is Enphase. Enphase micro inverters are shit and their quality control is absolutely unacceptable…their micro inverters burn out easily and just never work. The Solar Edge optimizers work very well and if a panel or two in a string are shaded, the other panels in that string will continue working well. I think that's all I can think of real quick.
  15. If the original muzzle brake is permanently attached, why does this thing have to be? Doesn't it thread onto threads on the muzzle brake? I don't know much about these tactical compensator devices but when do muzzle brakes have threads on them?
  16. I agree. Some guns are all over the price board and I don't want to embarrass myself with an offer, especially when I don't know much about a specific gun. I also agree with SGSLAW. Put some friggin prices up. We all know that one vendor that doesn't put prices up and I have to be honest. There have been some times when he does have something I want but as soon as I click the ad and see the "contact seller for price" under the price box, I move on. Give me a price of the item or GTFO.
  17. I apologize on my behalf but I had a good chuckle reading this post. Not laughing at you directly, but laughing at the way you wrote it and as I read it, knowing I would have done the same thing. Some of these "youtube celebrities," "instagram superstars," etc are really begging for money nowadays. I enjoy Instagram because I love pictures of guns, hot girls, guns, sports bikes, girls in yoga pants, guns..you get the picture..and Instagram has all of that and some. Now don't get me wrong, I know many people donate money to these people like hickock45 and fpsrussia and the like and I'm sure in the beginning it help a lot to get off the ground and start their channel as well as adding ammo and such to do the videos. But at this point, most of them have a bazillion views and are making a good amount of side money for shooting guns and recording it plus the sponsors of ammo, guns, and all that to supply most of it. I'm typing so much but all I meant was these youtube stars are cool but get lame when they put stupid stuff like this out. Stop trying to sell me this BS and make some more cool videos. I've also noticed a lot of gun people are worse than women when it comes to all the shit in their pockets, a tactical backpack for every day of the week, bars of silver coins on a necklace…so many accessories. I like EDC gear but I am a plain and simple type of person..a knife, beard comb, chapstick, keys and I'm good. Some of the gun guys that have 29192103 things in their pockets is ridiculous and is just a show. Kinda like a woman trying to show off all her accessories. And A LOT of gun stars are diving into the soap business which is so random IMO.
  18. Hahaha listen, I was addicted a looong time ago! IMO, I'd rather have mags for a gun than no gun and no mags. Nothing decreases in the gun hobby so if I can save a few bucks per mag buying it now versus in a year, that's still some money saved!
  19. Yeah I know what you mean. When I first started shooting, that's the position I was in. Buy 3 or 4 mags and thought it was enough. But years later I now put aside more money to spend on mags for new purchases or even buy mags ahead of time. I have a nice box of PTR and FAL mags and don't own either but I should in the future!
  20. Haha agreed. But we all know trading/selling to a gun shop is not the best route to sell guns. And yes probably there about as the pawnshop needs to make at least a hundred bucks on it if not more.
  21. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=515236365 Unbelievable price if you can snag it for the starting price. Someone please take advantage of this! I would if I had permits. Enjoy.
  22. I'm surprised people have such small amounts. I say 10+ for pistols and 20+ for rifles.
  23. Lookin good guys! I was frustrated I couldn't go...I thought Id be able to get over there but had a wedding to attend at noon and it was too much running around for the hour I could have stayed. As long as my girlfriends dad doesn't come to visit Saturday morning, I'm hoping to get out to Clinton for a couple hours. I will know by tonight and will make a thread if I'm going.
  24. This is a hard question to answer as everyone who suggests a shotgun is biased towards that specific shotgun but that is the same for a lot of 'what gun should i get' threads. I would suggest coming out to a shotgun shootout (there is one today actually) and you will be able to test out about 20 different shotguns to see what you like and don't like. You say you only want one shotgun…that's lame! I would not doubt that you will buy more than one after this. I'm guessing you are going to want to go the route of an O/U. I don't really have much knowledge of high end clay o/u shotguns but I'd say expect to spend $1500-2000 for a decent one. Sure, you have your low end $800ones and you could go the option of buying used and you will be able to get a nice shotgun for less as well. But good o/us's aren't cheap. I had one o/u and used it a few times but got bored with it. It just didn't "do it for me". But this is all coming from someone who shoots trap and sporting clays with a $200 pump gun, so what the hell do I know :-)
  25. I think I may be able to attend this for an hour or two. Hope to see everyone there!
