  1. I have a question about transporting. Can I put both ammo and handguns in the range bag if both are locked in separate compartments/cases?
  2. Will the case the pistol comes in suffice for transporting to and from the range? I did buy ammo, eyes/ear protection and a cabinet in anticipation. Still want a safe eventually but will wait till I'm ready for a long gun too. I'll check out the cleaning and lube recommendations you've made as well as the other suggested methods. Will make a decision based on the most cost effective method. Right now I have no plans on joining a range but I do want to eventually, preferably one with indoor/outdoor flexibility(OBRPC would be closest to me.) I eventually want to take a pistol course like the one Gun for Hire and others offer. There are really no public ranges around me(Fords) but I've been to Shore Shot. A friend from Edison goes to Bullet Hole and I'm gonna tag along with him next time he goes. Thanks for all the advice so far everyone. Keep 'em coming! fixed- thanks for the heads up tommy3rd
  3. I'm not quite there yet(owning my first pistol) but I am expecting its arrival this coming week. So, as the thread title states what does a new gun owner need? ie- what cleaning supplies do you recommend, any specific gun tools, whatever you think. I was looking at hoppes pistol cleaning kit but I have no idea if I need more than that. Please advise! and thanks! oh and the pistol I'm waiting on is an FNP-9, paid it off this weekend and waiting for it to arrive to Paul. I have Paul blocking the mags for me.
  4. +1 for Starland... all kinds of artists go through there...
  5. mods should sticky this in general and nj gun laws... or even every forum it'll get more exposure to forum goers
  6. how was it guys? pics are up! Friends of the NRA Dinner
  7. i believe they're the same as fn's pump shotguns which are no longer made either but when they do pop up on gunbroker in an auction form(no reserve, no buy it now) they usually end up around $450
  8. nice dog welcome! even though i'm sure u already feel quite at home
  9. sweet! have fun... it was one of the first handguns i've shot(though, i haven't shot many) but it stands out as one of my favorites... definitely post back after your first time out with it and record yourself shooting if you can! u can learn a lot and get great feedback off it
  10. welcome how do you like the phantom pics!
  11. you are correct... that only applies to semi-auto shotguns pistol grip + collapsible stock is ok for pump do a price request on this site for what you're looking for NJGF Firearms Price Request
  12. I want an fnp45 down the road. Read great things about it... The tactical version is a beaut I'm sure the xd and glock are both plenty reliable I held the fnp at a local shop and it looked and felt great...
  13. yeah i usually don't even bother looking at other auction sites besides gunbroker but coincidentally ran into gunsamerica. prices certainly aren't that attractive except for the one auction i speak of. i may give it a shot if i don't find something similar. i'll report back if i do
  14. woodbridge is safe! but wait middlesex co in north jersey? am i gonna have to switch allegiances in ZED?
  15. As per topic... They have some decent deals on some ammo I'm looking for.
  16. yeah i read that yesterday... most of the comments are pro and only a few opposed... the particular LEO apparently doesn't care whether it passes or not apparently he is just going to consider everyone carrying to be a threat.
  17. quick question about the range bag/nj transport law can i transport both handguns and ammo in this single range bag if the ammo is secured in its own ammo bag(the one that comes with this bag) and the handguns are locked in its respective case? bag looks plenty big...
  18. love these vids... can't wait for my opportunity
  19. first step? yes but it definitely seems like they're just doing this to avoid the lawsuits regarding the 2A. if this law passes then NJ can say "we're a shall issue" state but for $500/yr and like many have said the price is outrageous especially in our economy... i feel like it's more of a side-step rather than a step forward... side-stepping to avoid any possible lawsuits
  20. i was there today with my girlfriend... as far as gun related vendors... anjrpc was in attendance along with another group- i forget who though... got to shoot clay?( i don't even know what the right term is- bright orange disks!) it was my first time and i think i did all right... also checked out the archery range and shot compound... Link to archery/shotgun vids
  21. Not sure if this is common knowledge but buds gun shophas several models of the SIG556 to choose from for $971 including shipping. Online average for some of these rifles were about $1200 after comparing on google shopper. What do you guys think? credit goes to slickdeals
  22. back to the drawing board then i guess i'll skip the 22 and go straight to 223/5.56- then at least i can post with the men in the AR Discussion forums... but really- the pricepoint is really attractive but I will wait and see what initial reviews are. 1/10 jams might be a headache but 1/100 is certainly tolerable so we'll see!
  23. if i have the means, I'd like to come and just watch? Is it open to the public for that? If so, are there entrance fees? Maybe I should see what I'm getting myself into...
  24. it's all good... i mean i haven't seen it in person myself but i'll save judgement for when i get to hold one. out of curiosity though what about it makes it seem of lower quality? i know you're one of the more knowledgeable persons on here regarding ARtype stuff
