I like an m44 OG because you can use the butt to crush ZOMBIE skulls!! LOL I have a few of these rifles in varying conditions all good bores and like to play around with a few and make the "more accurate" and I have been waiting for something like this with the detachable mag to make as a project!

I can tell you that with a upgraded or work done on your trigger and free float the barrel and bed the receiver with some brass shims you could keep 1/12 inch groups with no problem on a hot barrel with surplus ammo on a cold 4 shot group you could get sub moa. For a 100.00 gun and some time on the barrel receiver and trigger you would be having a lot more fun. You may have a few as most do so play around with one there are a bunch of videos on youtube and write ups online on how to do this with little money and some time.

its a fun project the big seller for me is drop in free floating barrel with up to 10 round mag!! I have a few mosins and this requires nothing permanent done. unless you tap for a scope.

I have a bunch of clips from tony and other places never had an issue. were do you live? I have some that I know works in mine and could give you a few to see if thats the issue. I shoot at cherry ridge often but live in jersey city.

I think you might be right on with the gas system. if head space is fine and the bolt freely moves may not have the power to cycle. Try one shot at a time and see if it locks open on discharge. if it does and ejects right you know its not the bolt or extractor or gas system. or could be the way you load the clips. try two shot clips if they work fine then could be the loading or the 8 round clips you are useing. You can also check to see if the gas port on the barrel is clean and free of obstruction and lined up right with the gas system. if that dont look right Tony will need to fix it when he comes around. I hope its not the reciver ruide rails for the op rod!! When I took a garand class they said you should always use downward and backward force when cycling the op rod. because it may get cought on the opening to remove it on the rail or bend your rod or cause unessary wear on the opening.

is the gas plug on tight? I am new the the rifle and no expert. just troubleshooting.

I have one from him and the day I took it out I had a problem with bolt head space. I called him from the range and he told me to come to his house and he replaced the bolt and gave me an free lesson on some of the functions of the gun. I also was talking to him and I remember hearing his wife was ill. this was about two months ago. He has a great rep and something must not be right he has always been more then accommodating to me.

I was at sarco about a month ago and they had a lot in the case in the back! also other swiss variants on the rack along with a ton of Mauser types some good some not so good.
