  1. My buddy had a farm and a dedicated chuck of land that he shoots on, and as long as I bring the beer he has no problem sharing lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. So now that my 5.56 build is complete, I'm looking for a new pit to throw my hard earned money into. So I'm starting to think about a .308 AR build. Like my AR15 I'm going to build it up from a stripped lower and upper. Will the normal AR 15 fcg work with a .308 lower or is there a dedicated .308 fcg? Everything else I can figure out, just need to know about the fire control group. Or I might even buy a match trigger. Not decided yet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Ham radio

I'll have to get with someone that knows then and find how they operate. Don't want to waste money on something that won't be very useful.

    Ham radio

They do, but for what ever reason, he wants his own.

    Ham radio

I have a technical question that involves radio's and figured this would be the better topic to ask in, since it maybe useful for others and this is kinda becoming a compendium of advice on HAM's. My dad wants a hand held for the fire department, and was looking at radio's. So I'm going to get him one for Christmas. The requirement was that it had to have the ability to go narrow band and operate on 500 mhz and higher (their frequency is 501.000 +/-). Being that this radio will be around fire, water, chemicals, and generally will be abused I'm going to get a Baofeng radio (cheap and replaceable but with a solid reputation behind it). http://smile.amazon.com/BaoFeng-UV-82C-Commercial-Model-Transceiver/dp/B00IJIHLNE/ref=sr_1_9?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1417558017&sr=1-9&keywords=baofeng Would that work for the intended purpose?
  6. I tested 10 rounds through an aluminum c-products mag and it cycled just fine. I'm gonna try them in a different lower and see if its mine thats messed up, which wouldn't surprise me. The mags might not be polymer lower compatible.
  7. I just got three of black 15/30 hex mags. Finish is great, they're really grippy and just look nice in the rifle. My one complaint is (and this may just be my rifle) but the mags don't lock in place. It feeds one round into the chamber but the force of the bolt closing unseats the mag enough to misdeed the next round (using snap caps). Not sure if just my lower and mag catch or an issue with the mag. I'm gonna get a buddy of mine to bring his AR over and I'm gonna try them in his. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Build or Buy

I'm stuck between building a 1911 or buying an EAA witness in .40 s&w. I really want to build a 1911, but I just don't know what tools I need and what tools would just be nice to have to make life easier. But when it comes down to it, I'd jump at a chance to build one. 9. Yeahhhhh....so, jobs like key maker are lateral moves for employees in retail jobs like this. Unless there is a raise involved employees won't care about learning the proper way to do things. Switching to a machine to do this job is going to save the company money, not only in labor cost but training and retraining as well. And on top of all that I'm pretty sure lowes has been making this switch machine for a few years now. It's not about raising the minimum wage just because, it's a way for them to save money. The minimum wage increase, is to try and help decrease the cost of living gap that people with sucky jobs (in more cases the only jobs they can find) have to contend with in New Jersey. Yeah you're not supposed to be able to live on minimum wage, but if everyone struggles to pay for the bare basics even with government assistance than there is something wrong with this state. 10. If you want a bolt action with magazine in 10-15 round capacity mossberg mvp. If you want accurate and bolt but with 5 rounds think about savage or Remington. If you want semi auto customizable with 10-15 rounds AR15. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Just got my hand guard in today. Specs: New frontier lower with PSA lpk AO upper with 1:8 twist 16 inch barrel YHM phantom brake YHM diamond free float hand guard (specter length so 9.6 inches) AIM NiB bcg and generic charging handle Center point cheap red/green dot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk ETA: I'm already thinking about switching out my stock for a magpul ACS(?) the fixed stock and changing optics or at least mounts.
  12. http://youtu.be/woxxsQ32MTo This is probably the weirdest gun video I've seen...
  13. The forum isn't letting me upload right now but this what I have: http://letargets.com/estylez_item.aspx?item=VTAC-P Also made a PVC/Wood target stand to hold said targets. But I never have a chance to shoot so they've been sitting unused since I got them.
  14. Taken from their site You'd have to have a compatible hexmag spring, and possibly a floor plate if the riser is permanently attached to the floor plate. At least thats how I understand it. I think I might buy one next week after I pay my bills. Ill post it when I get it in.
  15. I don't see why they wouldn't be illegal. 15 rounds, not easily reversed, just because there isn't an epoxied floor plate doesn't mean its bad juju in the state. At least in my opinion, and weall know how much that's worth.
  16. I think this is a pretty neat idea. Can't wait to see how it actually works though. Just a quick demo like this doesn't really tell me much Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. If it pops up on demand I'll watch it before work tomorrow. One of my favorite world war 2 movies, even if it's not entirely accurate. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Most of the people I work with I know I own them. I've talked with my boss about them and he went from staunch neutrality to cautious pro gun. And I'm taking my best friend from high school out to shoot trap out at M&M on Saturday for my 23rd birthday. I've only come across one person who was against owning them but that was more for her family then everyone in general. But I'm pretty much in Alabama as far as jersey is concerned so it's par for course
  19. After a better search on quikclot it looks like Wikkie is right and it's kaolin not zeolite. So I was wrong on that front, and by law generic has to be the same formulary as name brand so at least we know it's kaolin like quikclot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. You could be right about the inert material, because that's all I found with a quick google search last night. As far as the sponge it's self, I guess it's all personal preference. I'd personally be more apt to go for sponges because the powder is going to be harder to remove from a wound (think scraping the wound to debride it). Like I said I'd have to look at the size of the sponge, and see how big or small it actually is. But if it's thin enough you might be able to roll it and pack a wound for a better seal then powder, pressure bandages or stand alone gauze. After all you're just looking to stabilize the patient long enough to prevent shock and allow transport to a better equipped medical facility. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. So I was at work today slacking off (weekends in retail are slow paced...) and found a new to our store product: Complete self contained wound packing kit. Quick clot sponge, gause wrap and pair of gloves. 14.99 for the kit (I don't think medical supplies are taxed but I'm probably wrong.) looks cheaper than the stand alone sponge [removed inaccurate information] Not sure on size of the sponge, I'll check it out when I'm back in on Monday. So if you're looking for a local source of quikclot, and don't want to buy online, then this maybe the option for you. Found in first aid section of walgreens. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. I entered. Shared it on all the social media engines I'm on. So guaranteed I'm not gonna win lol.
  23. Figured I should revive this topic just to say that I placed a second order on Saturday for two small parts (ten round mag for my AR build, and a carbine length gas tube) and everything was shipped 2nd day mail and will arrive on Wednesday. So far I've been very satisfied with their prices and shipping, but their customer service line left a bit to be desired in the area of technical answers (seriously, who doesn't know what gas system their barrel is drilled for.) Besides that one little tiny thing, I'd recommend this website to any of my friends that shoot.
  24. 0/10 Is missing tactical spoon attachment...would not operate with. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. So I found some large ring Mauser actions for sale. All off of old K98's. And Brownells has large ring Mauser barrels for sale! So If those actions are still available in a few months I might consider doing a build on one of those in 25-06. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
