  1. I think the bigger rare element today are men of principal and men that stand up for something vs taking the comfort of their surroundings. After all, when a reasonable person gives an inch to an irrational person, that irrational person wants more.
  2. the SC ruled on that and said it was unconstitutional which is why I don't think a gun confiscation scheme can work and is all bluster. Then again, who knows what they are capable of
  3. for the record, I am not saying it's coming to a shooting action......
  4. what is defeatist about this statement? Respectfully, do you know what a defeatist statement is? This may, in your eyes, be lofty, unrealistic, grandiose, or a pipe dream but defeatist?
  5. I dont' disagree with alot of what you are saying merely going by the numbers and history. Having a one off with the cops is vastly different than having people from all over stating they will not give up a fundamental belief like the 2a. There is absolutely a lot of bravado out there but again, all you need is 10% to make it a game changer. The gov't knows this..... Just look at a place like NJ. No town can take 2 shoot outs at the same time, the resources are not there and doctrine doesn't allow for that model. If 10% of the population was zealous enough to say no, that's 80k with guns that will shoot it out at some point with the boys in blue. No gov't is gonna risk that..... If you are a cop, are you gonna risk your life for something you may or may not believe in vs 80k armed people. Those 80k might be a one off here or there but in bigger towns you may get 1,2 or3 or more at a time. Who knows really with social networking. If it succeeds in one place, if people see a WACO or a Ruby Ridge happening close by and it's them next and they're already in the mindset of an environment of gun confiscation do you really think it's going to end with people just giving up. The state doesn't have that many armed police officers and no one wants it to come to this Sounds implausible but you really never know. again, this isn't a one off, this is an entire culture within our country that believes it's a right that cannot be taken away. Zealousy is very powerful, it boils down to this; how many zealots are out there in this environment?
  6. I will be there! I think we all ought to bring toy guns strapped to our backs with signs that read, 'next time it's not plastic'...haha
  7. not at all merely qualifying what my intended posts should mean. I would wager gov't models propose at least 10% hard no to gun confiscation in the NE and 3x that in the South and West. That alone requires military aid and would be considerably tough given other variables. I'm a realist, spent my life on wall street and never married a trade so I can see both sides of every coin fairly clearly. Everything a gov't would do here would be based on acceptable model evaluations of resistance......if it ever came to that
  8. one other thing people, upon reading many responses here, ALL POLITICS ARE LOCAL......... NJ will not be the barometer for how people react to any mass effort of gov't taking firearms. I laugh at the stupidity of that notion
  9. with all due respect, if this is how you feel then you should just turn them in now. I have lived all over, know many high placed people in various areas that will have to choose should it come to this and in every discussion with said people, this is not how they think it would go down. Not only that, but only people in the liberal enclave of NY/NY/ and MA view it like this. You go to the Midwest, South, many parts of California of all places and the basin area and you can forget any turning over of firearms. Also, never has a populace been disarmed over time. In ever instance it was fast and happened with military support to include the UK. For every gunman, LE requires about 20. You start to get pockets of resistance, gov'ts get nervous and infringe more which promotes greater violence and unease. This has nothing to do with playing Wolverines but more about history, context and common sense.
  10. agree..........now we need to put pressure on companies like Dicks, Walmart and the like and stop them from being such pu$$ies
  11. the main problem is we are fragmented and not unified instead, we rely on the NRA to fight all the battles. WE need our own grassroots minuteman movement. Imagine thousands of cars stopping traffic like they do in Europe with the slogan, 'cars this time, with rifles next time'...you don't think that wouldn't get the attention of the elected elite? The thought of 10-100k people with rifles marching on a state or national capital is enough to make even the dead Napoleon shake
  12. think about this, there are only 700k police in the United States. We have more gun owners than that in NJ alone. Going door to door is not gonna happen as it invites violence, tips their hand, and gives the 'opposition' time to prepare. A catalyst will be needed to truly turn public opinion however, that won't happen if we continue to teach our young and talk to people intelligently all the while bringing them to the range and showing them NOT to be afraid of the big bad black gun
  13. the problem is they trot kids out and it's hard to vote against kids or be seen to be unresponsive to that.
  14. agree...that or a m1a/Garand....Is there one like that?
