  1. Anything ever happen with this?
  2. Is that guy really Russian? He sounds like Mr. Chekov.
  3. My bad. It is indeed still there. It just didn't look like it. I ordered a couple of them. Thanks
  4. Rats! Just saw this thread and it looks like the deal is over. Too bad, as I was looking for a couple of ammo cans. Anyone know of any other hot deals on them?
  5. I'm Old Glock Guy, and I'm a gun junkie. I started thinking as I was driving up to Cherry Ridge yet again yesterday, that when I joined this forum less than three months ago (3/11/2011) I owned a Glock 23, gen.? and about a hundred rounds of ammo. Shortly thereafter, I went out and bought 200 more rounds, keeping it quiet from friends and family for fear of being thought of as a gun maniac. Just two and a half months later, I now have added a Glock 19, gen.4; a Ruger 10/22; and a Smith & Wesson 15-22. I'll be picking up a Beretta 92A1 in a few days, and I 'll be acquiring a Mossberg 500 shortly. I still have one P2P left, so I'll be starting another one of those annoying "What should I get?" threads sometime soon. In addition, I have almost 10,000 rounds of ammo (although more than half is .22LR) and my UPS guy or gal hates me. Also, I have a couple of knives, one cheap folder and one decent buck knife. You guys constantly warn that it can become an expensive obsession, so I just wanted to let you know that you're all correct. The way I look at it though, is that it still costs less than golf. (I think.)
  6. I was up there today as well, but a little later. Didn't get there until around 3:00, because I had to make a trip to Meltzer's first to pick up my new S&W 15-22. Spent a couple of hours at the 100 yard range trying it out, and playing around with my Ruger 10-22. Those Tech Sights are amazing! I was able to find a 12" target with some consistency at 100 yards. Mind you, I wasn't shooting bullseyes, but I was putting a lot of marks on my Shoot N C's. Not as successful with the 15-22 yet. Spoke with a couple of guys who seemed experienced. Mentioned NJGF, but so far have not found anyone who has heard of it. Are we really such a small group? Anyway, hope to run into some of you guys before too long.
  7. OK, so three weeks ago when I posted here, that was the first I had heard of the S&W 15-22. Now I own one. Picking it up tomorrow. Can't wait to take it up to CR to try it out. Glad I bought lots of .22LR ammo! Oh, and after just a bit of research, I realized that while there are about a half a dozen different models, the decision is easy in this state because only one is NJ legal.
  8. I've envisioned a similar scenario with taking my GF and her kids to the range (at different times, because I think it would be tough to manage that many newbies). (BTW, my GF is really negative on guns. I couldn't even get her to join me as a special birthday request a couple of weeks ago. Luckily, I was able to think up a different birthday request.) Anyway, when the day comes, I plan to teach them the three NRA safety rules. (Really no need to worry about what's beyond one's target at the range.) I think I would discuss the rules on the trip there, then demonstrate them once we arrive. After that, I would just show them some of the basics, as I understand them, and let them fire away. I wouldn't be concerned about their accuracy unless they were. I would just let them enjoy the experience, and if they decide they want to pursue it further, then they could take NRA or GFH classes.
  9. Interesting idea. I've thought the same thing, it would convenient if anyone would do that. I'll bet most places are afraid of the potential liablility, in case a gun should happen to disappear.
  10. It would suck to be the guy who went through all that time and expense to build an elaborate dam, only to have it fail when it wasn't quite high enough. (See photos on the OP's link.)
  11. I would have to agree with the consensus on this. As annoying as it is to have to go home to get your guns before heading to the range, the way NJ laws are written, I don't see any way around it. Unless, of course, you're talking about long guns, which you are allowed to keep in your car, as has been noted. Think about it this way: if your car were stolen or broken into, how would you explain the loss of your guns? The trick would be to start your own business, since you would then be legally able to bring your guns from home to your place of business; then go to the range afterward.
  12. My thoughts exactly, both on the vulnerable point and on the coolness.
  13. No, I got that. I was just making a subtle jest about the last letter being redundant, as with the other two.
  14. So we can have a cool party mood while we're being raptured, they should play some music like this:
  15. BUG gun? Is that like a PIN number (or a VIN number)?
  16. What would do if the BG refuses to lie on the ground? I would guess that the proper thing to do at that point would be to do nothing until he does one of the first two things. Edited to add: I'm taking a Personal Protection in the Home course at GFH next month, hoping to sort all of this out.
  17. I watched a few minutes of Harold Camping last night. Isn't he the guy predicting the end of the world on the 21st? He was calmly discussing scripture with his callers, seemingly totally unphased for a guy that believes the whole thing will come crashing down in five days.
  18. I have a Blackhawk Serpa holster. Not sure why, especially since we can't carry, they're not allowed at Cherry Ridge, and I don't do any competitive shooting. Just thought it would be cool to have one.
  19. Thanks for your note. I was unware of that. Excuse my ignorance, because this is still pretty new to me, but do you just try to get everyone to stop shooting for a minute while you run out there and place them; or save them for days when no one is around? Would it be appropriate to buy some and leave them out there as a donation? Siderman, nice job on those tables! Wasn't sure if I would like it up there, given the convenience of the Bullet Hole for moving and changing targets; but it's a beautiful setting, and it's nice to just shoot and shoot until you either run out of time or ammo.
  20. Was anyone there yesterday? Kind of a crappy day. I made it up there late in the afternoon. Dying to try out my new 6" and 12" Shoot N C's. Just missed the 5:00 ceasefire, so headed over to the silo range to kill a little time. Noticed that they rebuilt a few of the tables over there, but it still looks like they could use some more targets. Headed over to the 100 yard range to shoot my 10/22 at 50 yards for a little while. Those SNC's are great, but with the overcast, I still needed binocs to see them. Gathered my stuff just before the lights went on, then dashed out to grab my target stand before scooting home to meet my GF for dinner. BTW, I think my stand, even though it's new, must have termites or something, because some of the wood looks like it's been chewed up.
  21. Congratulations on your first purchase! I recently got a Glock 19 to go along with my G23, and I love it. Shoots a lot smoother than the 23. If the 17 is like the 19, which I would believe it is, you're going to love it. BTW, I got that Uplulu loader recently, and I can't believe I got along without it for as long as I did. Makes getting those last rounds into a mag so much easier. (And faster!)
  22. Good luck with your new addition! I have purchased one as well, but I won't be eligible to take it home for another couple of weeks.
