  1. Of course it's real. Don't you remember Roddy Piper's documentary "They Live" from the '80s? Seems that former wrestlers have an inside track on these things. Ignore them at your peril.
  2. I don't have any arbitrary limit, but I believe fully in the "less is more" philosophy. Particularly for handguns. I am pretty lucky if I get 2 hours of range time in every month. Most months it is one hour. I'm not much of a collector, so a gun that sees the light of day once a year is not very appealing to me. I would rather have 10,000 rounds down the pipe of one pistol than 1,000 down each of ten different ones. If I ever get to move somewhere that I can walk out the back door into my 30 acres and shoot anytime I want, my position will likely change drastically.
  3. Wow, you don't see your own blatant hipocrisy? You have a motorcycle for an avatar so I can only assume you own and ride it. Everything you have said has also been said in favor of banning motorcycles and/or denying medical insurance claims ofriders. Not understanding that liberty applies to everyone, not just those who do the same things you do is what is idiotic.
  4. Liberty sometimes costs blood but always costs money. I guess you would also be a supporter of Bloomberg's soda laws, right? After all, those morons who drink gallons of soda also cause your insurance rates to go up due to obesity, diabetes, etc.
  5. I can't imagine anyone who needs to be scraped off the road asking for anything.
  6. Had a similar problem on one of my 870's. The shell latch was too far out. I disassembled the receiver and removed the latch. It is staked in but comes out easily. I simply bent the latch back slightly and problem solved. Don't go hog wild, just a little at a time. You can buy a staking tool to re-stake it but I didn't bother and have had no issues.
  7. Seriously, forget about the FPID for now. You've got bigger probems. You say you learned your lesson so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and save the preaching. Hire a lawyer. Don't say you can't afford it. You're going to pay plenty either way. You need to get the speeding ticket down to less than double the speed limit and the reckless down to careless. Get the right lawyer, not the cheapest. Find someone who works in the municipality regularly. As I said, this is going to cost you a nice stack of green but if you play your cards right you can lessen the long-term impact.
  8. The blame for the situation in MA (and here for that matter) rests solely on the shoulders of the apathetic majority of the citizens. Even amongst active hunters and shooters there is a high level of detachment. My boss is an avid hunter but doesn't give a damn if handguns were banned outright because he has no interest in them. Another work associate owns a bunch of guns and shoots regularly, says he would suport a ban on 50 cal rifles because "what the hell does anyone need something that big for?" What do you think would happen to the first potitician in Texas who made a serious push to start crap like OGAM? Lautenberg makes no secret of his anti-2A agenda and continues to be re-elected. The problem is us, the citizens. Face it, 2A rights are simply not a big concern to the majority of the residents of our area. Unless that changes you can expect business as usual (if you're lucky.) What would Romney have done, we'll never know. What wil Obama do? We're going to find out. The number one agenda item of a career politician is to retain power. Obama is somewhat irrelevant on this, it's congress you gotta watch out for. If enough people let their representatives know that it would be political suicide to pass a new AWB, it won't get off the dime. Fortunately, there are a lot of people in other parts of this county that hold 2A rights sacred. I'm not all that worried. Yet.
  9. Heading to RTSP for about 2:15. I'll be shooting with a young lad from my office. If you're there say hi. I'll be shooting a GP100, XD9 or P250. Wearing a blue shirt and a big, bald head.
  10. This is true. Just like if your neighbor has a peach tree and a branch grows over your property, you own the peaches on that limb. I believe there is an exception. If you can prove that you notified the neighbor ahead of time that his tree was in danger of damaging your property it now becomes his liability. This exact thing happened to a friend of mine. Willow tree fell from the neighbor's property and hit the house. Shifted the entire top floor about 3" His insurance company told him that if he had sent a certified letter to the neighbor explaining that the tree was leaning and was a potential danger the neighbor's homeowner's policy would have paid the bill. He had mentioned it to the neighbor but had nothing in writing to prove it. Live and learn, I suppose.
  11. Can't make this one. Have fun, lads. See you in January.
  12. It is a shame. Something tells me the sister probably has some good reasons for this letter. Can't really blame her if there are some hotheads in the family that can't remain civil even on a holiday. My sister in law's soon-to-be ex is like this. Made holidays miserable to the point that we skipped plenty of family functions if we knew he would be there. Ignorance and belligerism become tedious rather quickly.
  13. Let me get this right. Petition has about 3,100 signatures. NJ has approximately 9 million residents. Those who signed this petition consist of less than 0.00035% of the state's population. Most likely even less if you go by the first page of signatures since so many are not even from NJ. Please explain why this is newsworthy?
  14. Just call the detective an explain that your employer refuses to confirm employment. Contrary to popular belief, employers are not legally required to do so. My company flat-out refused to return any form that had the word "firearm" on it. I explained it to the detective, and he noted it in the file. Had my permits a couple days later. Turns out this is not exactly a unique problem in NJ. If you are denied for this, contact the state police.
  15. Without question the single biggest threat to 2A issues nationwide.
  16. Great to see you guys again today. Thanks to Drez for showing me how to shoulder the gun right. This sport is much more fun when you can actually hit a few things. Can't wait for the next one.
  17. I'm still planning on being there, but will probably only be able to stay for a couple of hours.
  18. At least we know the medicinal marijuana dispensaries are fully functional in Gloucester County.
  19. Perhaps your fellow citizens should have prepared better. It may be a good learning experience for them. Americans used to value self-reliance and personal responsibility very highly. Now too many want the nanny state to take care of them. You want legislation to force gas station owners to pay for equipment to allow them to pump during a power outage. What's next? Maybe they should be forced to be open 24 hours so someone who didn't prepare/conserve is not inconvenienced? That's a laugh.
  20. So my buddy gave the guy one of his cans. Said he was concerned that things would be awkward in the future if he refused. His wife was furious. Interestingly enough, the guy came by this morning and returned the can full with many thanks. Said his wife sat on line for well over 2 hours for gas today. Also tried to hand my buddy a $50 bill but he wouldn't take it. Now his wife is pissed that he refused the $50.
  21. Of course the cost is insignificant when you are forcing someone else to pay the bill. How about you spend your money the way you like and let others do the same?
  22. If it's so good for business, gas station owners will do it without legislation. This is the attitude that dooms NJ. BTW, the cost will be passed on to the consumer. And for what? How many times has this situation occurred in NJ in the last 50 years?
