  1. Very well done video and man can they shoot! Inspiring regardless if your male/female.
  2. I know guys that use molycoated lead in their Glocks without issue. I"m sure you can do it as long as you clean it and yes, have the right hardness. I personally don't know enough about it so I just stick with plated/FMJ. I forgot about Kahr, good call.
  3. Haven't heard of any others with polygonal barrels. I kinda like standard rifling since I now shoot lead. Any real benefit to polygonal rifling?
  4. Woah that is a lot of rounds. I think the most I've put through any gun is around 1500-2000 and that is with my HK USP Compact that I sold and my current Kimber TLE/RL II. I wonder if the internal extractor would have done any better.
  5. Week nights are much less crowded if you can do it. Monday they do the fun shoot so don't go that night if you want to rent.
  6. I signed up and will be there. I'm doing LTD 10 with my Kimber. Hope she behaves...
  7. I made a video game themed USPSA vid. This was last weeks practice USPSA match at Tenafly, NJ. Was actually three stages, I just got lazy and included only two. Will probably post up later. Vid was a lot of fun to make. Lemme know what you think I may post up more. Hope you all enjoy.
  8. Can you even find an Operator? I don't really see them around. I'd really like to try the HK45 since I've heard so many good things about them. I had a USP Compact and it was extremely reliable.
  9. I don't own either but I have shot both. I shot the GP100 with hot 357 mag loads and it was very very manageable. The 686 felt a little harsher but it was a 4" model, I think the GP100 was a 5/6" model if that matters. They are both iconic revolvers and have great reputations. If you like it get it.
  10. For semis I'll only get 9mm or 45ACP. No interest in 40 and the other calibers are too expensive to shoot and not enough brass to reload. I plan on getting a revolver and while it'd make sense to get one in 45ACP I just see 357mag as THE revolver caliber so will most likely get that.
  11. If it doesn't get used it's out. That's my policy. I shoot everything I own as much as I can.
  12. I know I'm saving. No way I could even buy a 1911 or any 45ACP pistol unless I reloaded. It's around $350-450/1000rds. When I reload it's closer to $120-130 depending on what I'm loading. Plus it's made the way I want and shoots more accurately for me. 9mm is not as much of a savings, but I'm still saving at least $100 per 1000rds. The way I see it I can shoot double the amount for the same price. One things for sure: Yeah you don't save money, you just shoot more!
  13. How do you guys stock so much brass? Sometimes I hang around the range and pick up extra, but only a few hundred or so. You guys run a brass farm or something?
  14. How much of each reloading supply do you guys keep stocked up? Powder - lbs Primers - qty Brass - qty Bullets - qty Loaded Ammo - rounds (All Calibers) For me: Powder - 5lbs Primers - 3000 Brass - 1500-2500 Bullets - 2000 Loaded - 500-1000 My numbers are probably pretty low compared to you guys. I would stock up more, but this is about the average for me in the past year.
  15. I've been told that the smoke/fumes from lead bullets is harmful to your health which I'm sure it is. Some guys I know actually where a mask when shooting indoors. Anyone know what level of lead exposure inhalation is dangerous in regard to shooting? Anyone take precautions like wearing a mask, etc?
  16. No interest in going open because I don't have the budget for an open gun plus accessories. I like using what I currently have. I will say an open 10 division would level the playing field a bit because there are some who comply with state law and use only 15 round mags and others who take the chance and use higher cap mags.

    1911 v sig 220

I totally agree. It has a lot of character. I started reloading 45acp so I could afford to shoot a 1911.

    1911 v sig 220

I like them both. I own a 1911 and have shot a 220. Both are great guns. I personally like the 220 single action a lot. The DA is very heavy. You could get a SAO if you wanted. They are very different shooting experiences all together. If you don't have a 1911 I'd go that round first to try it out. I think you'll like it a lot.
  19. Where can you get the 220 carry slide? I've only seen them rarely on gunbroker.
  20. Wanna become really depressed? Instead of $$$ think of it in terms of how many guns you have to NOT buy each year. So sad... so sad...
  21. I'm lazy so would this work if I just field stripped the gun and threw in the parts?
  22. Let me know how you like those sights, I've thought about getting a set.
  23. I second the SRT Trigger if you can find it. I don't have it in my P228, but I've felt it on other models and it's awesome. There are some decent 1911 offerings in that price range. Maybe the Springfield Armory Range Officer? Also consider buying used. In my opinion a good condition used gun is just as good as new. If any parts have to be replaced it's usually just a recoil spring which is cheap.
