  1. Nope, it's a different Stevens, this one is a Stevens Institue of Buisness and Art in St Louis.
  2. I received an e-mail from Ruger yesterday with a link for an easy way to either send a form letter or your own to all your elected officials. Just thought I'd post it. http://www.ruger.com/micros/advocacy/

    Ruger SP101 Endshake

At what point could it become unsafe to fire if at all? I mean if the end shake worsens and goes to .006", .007", etc?

    Ruger SP101 Endshake

Thanks Bob, I'll give Ruger a call and see what they say.
  5. I have a question for all you revolver experts. I have two Rugers, a 5" GP100 and a 3" SP101. Both were purchased new and have only about 500 rounds through them, 50% 357 magnums and 50% 38 specials. Both function fine so far. As I learn more about revolvers I was reading about end shake so I got out my feeler gauges to measure the end shake on my Rugers. The GP100 felt real tight with little forward/backward movement of the cylinder. I measured .006" with the cylinder fully back and .003" with the cylinder fully forward so as I understand it that gives it an end shake of .003". The SP101's cylinder always felt a bit loose compared to the GP100. Measuring the forward/backward movement of the SP101's cylinder I got .003" forward, .008" backward so the end shake is .005". Would anyone know if I should be concerned about the end shake on the SP101? Is installing a end shake bearing something easy to do to correct or would a gunsmith be needed to install it. Thanks for any advice!
  6. Nothing specific but Cuomo said in his speech that nobody needs 10 rounds to kill a deer.Maybe 7 is correct?
  7. I read that Chicago passed the 500 mark for murders, 80% gang related (estimated 70,000 gang members) and the preferred weapon was an illegally obtained handgun. Therefore the politicians see the solution as banning the sale of assault style rifles to law abiding citizens. Such impeccable logic.
  8. Lefties are quite extreme. http://www.foxnews.c...oines-register/
  9. I especially dislike the line in the article that reads "Would a cautionary call to the local police be out of line?". I could just imagine the calls that the local PD's would get from neighbors that dislike each other, something like my neighbor was kicking and cursing his lawn mower in a violent way and I'm scared because he owns guns.
  10. Well they just added a $25 gun tax for legal gun purchases. That should help. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/12/28/new-25-per-gun-tax-stirs-debate-in-chicago/
  11. Someone tried to steal an off duty officers jacket when he was in the restroom, the jacket contained his off duty weapon which discharged twice, no one was injured. http://www.foxnews.c...-mall-bathroom/
  12. In retrospect if I had it to do over I would most likely go for the manual combo lock too, although the electronic lock is not bad.
  13. I picked up a Stack-On 16 Gun Safe with electronic lock last summer from Walmart for around $375 including shipping. It's not a fire safe but it is solid for the price and much more secure than a security cabinet. I never keep ammo in it, I store ammo in a separate smaller safe. The only problem I've had with it was the battery that came with it was weak and wouldn't operate the solenoid so I had to replace the battery. It does come with an override key should the electronic lock fail.
  14. Took me around 4 months to get my FID card. I had called the clerk that handles the paperwork and left voicemail several times for the officer that did the investigation. Never got an answer other than it was still in progress. One morning I sent a polite e-mail to the chief and within an hour after sending the e-mail I got a call from the investigating officer stating that my card was ready.
  15. Why not, Bloomberg managed to pull it off as mayor of NYC.
  16. You will never be able to stop the ones that are truly evil and/or mentally unstable. A a little over a year ago my neighbor was shot in the head with his own handgun by his son as he was doing dishes. His son wanted to get the key to a small safe that contained credit cards and some cash and figured the easiest way was to kill his father. Turned out that the safe wasn't evenlocked. This guy played with my sons when they were kids and was over to my house many times, never had a clue what he was capable of.
  17. Fox reported that the weapons, a glock, a sig, and a rifle all belonged legally to the shooter's mother.
  18. I've never fired a HP pistol but from what I've read it is exactly what yo said, the blowback action requires the shooter to grip the pistol firmly, more so than other designs.
  19. I have both the 995TS and the 4595TS. Haven't had a problem with either so far and they are fun to shoot.
  20. Even I could sit at a desk and order a group of elite, exceptionaly talented and well trained young men to take out a target. Now if he flew in with the SEALS then I'd say he got Bin Laden.
  21. Have you ever heard of any of the following: Choom gang Choom wagon Total Absorption Roof hits Here's a hint, his first name is Barry

I've got a hi-point 995TS. I love it, haven't had a problem with it. Lots of positive reviews for it, for example here's a recent nutnfancy review of the 995TS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ouqWxI9oLG8 It is inexpensive, comes with a lifetime warranty, and is American made. I also have one in .45 ACP (4595TS), haven't had a problem with it either.
