  1. Same here, except on my M&P40 Pro (5-inch) and Compact. Quality sights, and they were the only ones I found that had the correct front height for the longer slide. I tried to get the same trigger and sights for the pistols, and is 100%. Side note, I'm not impressed with Heinie's sights. I just installed them on my Ruger SR1911. The rear needed fitting, as well as the front, but when pushing the front on, the blade popped off due to the slide interference under the dot (base was fitted correctly; pushed from the base, not the blade). Emailed them, and was told that it was due to improper fitting. Sorry, but never had to fit the bottom of the sight blade, nor do I want to sand down under the night sight. The Dawson sights took more fitting, yet I never had to touch anything other than the base. Sending the slide in for them to do it, with about a $50 charge for a replacement sight and $15 to install. Being there are not a lot of options for the SR1911, this will be my only set of Heinie sights... subject to change if they look at it and change their mind.
  2. I run Magpul MBUS Pro (front and rear) on my AR. Aimpoint PRO with stock mount, and probably going to add a 3x magnifier. Really happy with the sights. I have a piston upper, so going with the standard MBUS up front wasn't an option. The Pro sights are really compact compared to some of the other back up irons I've seen.
  3. I love it. The stock grip had some traction, but the stippling makes it 100% better. I had the old grip smooth out prior to stippling. Definitely recommend that, being it really cleans up the grip. Supposedly, they are releasing a holster to go with the grip. Only problem is that there needs to be a cut on the dust cover to accept the retention point (think like a Serpa). Someone from Recover said there would be an exchange program of some sort, but I'm not going that route. I'll stick with the Fobus holster instead of redoing a new set. It isn't like I carry the 1911...
  4. What?If you meant the Recover grip, it is a total of 4 grip screws, and then two self contained screw/nuts on the rail. Removes just like standard grips. If you meant something else, sorry, didn't follow. I think the Beretta version is up for pre-order or shipping now.
  5. I know... I mean what the hell! I should say the hell with bills and just put money on an identical gun to one that I have. Maybe I should go look at a Ed Brown.
  6. Because some people like the non-railed 1911, but still like the ability to run a light... And I'm not going to buy a dedicated railed 1911 when I own a SR1911 already. No real desire to invest in another identical pistol. I considered tossing a Novak rail, but then I lose a lot of holster compatibility. $50 for a non permanent way to mount a light is definitely a solution for a few people. And owning the grip for a few month, it definitely is a good product. I run either Magpul grips or these on my SR1911. After seeing a few videos on these grips, I sent mine to LightFighter Innovations for a little bit of stippling. I have the screws at CCR for plating. I think the contrast will go good, however I did it since they reminded me of my LCP CT screws, which rusted pretty easily.
  7. This would have been a better announcement than that .223 scout rifle. I have a 642, but not sure how I feel about it. I like 9mm, but not too big on moonclips.
  8. Nice... way to go Phil. So happy I cut all ties when they played games with the two M&Ps I bought. I felt like they needed income to pay for the pistols before I could get them, even though I paid for them in full. Hope everything works out for those who had stuff there.
  9. No, actually I didn't realize that deleting it on my end does the same to yours... sorry. Still interested. Need me to resend it?
  10. Thanks for the help everyone. Really appreciate it. remixer, sent you a PM.
  11. Black polymer doesn't equal tacticool... plus it saves A LOT of weight. I picked up a nice wood set for my WASR, with the dong forend, but ultimately went with the polymer. Happy I did, but have had a wood set sitting in my office for about a year. You'd think it would be easy to sell, but that is not the case. Decide first and buy once.
  12. Hi, Just wanted to see if anyone knew of any sources of Spikes Tactical lowers? Specifically, the basic one with Safe/Fire markings. I'm located in Howell (Monmouth/Ocean border). Been considering another build, probably not to start until next year, but figured to get the lower so it is out of the way. AIM has them for a good price, but don't want to ship to NJ. Thanks.
  13. Before I added the Magpul furniture, I left the wood Police furniture on my 870.
  14. Not an 870 Marine, but a Police that I had done in NP3 Plus.
  15. Ruger SR1911, which I've been very happy with. Other than the grips, only added stainless grip screws (think it gives a nice accent with black grips, and won't have a finish that wears off). I run two grips on the Ruger, depending on need. Most of the time, it has Magpul MOE grips. If I ever need to run a rail, I put on the Recover Tactical CC3 grips. Gives me a good rail mount, and only cost me $50. But the best is that it can go back to non-railed in a minute or two. The first picture is stock, but the other two are after I send it to LightFighter Innovations for stippling. Very good work, and happy to send business to a disabled veteran (Chris, the owner is a very good guy).
  16. Don't know who at Shore Shot worked on my 9mm PX4, but I'll never let them touch any of my guns due to that. PX4 sights go on/come off opposite from other sights. The guy did tell me he swapped plenty of sights on Berettas, so I figured he knew. Got it back with chips where the sight pusher touched the barrel, which I didn't care as I was getting it plated in the near future (Trijicons were on there, so oh well). Tossed it in the safe for a few days, then pulled it out to shoot. Within 200 rounds, two of the three lamps were dead. I mentioned to someone there that I had their gunsmith do the install, and was upset that I had only one dot in the rear working. Pretty much told me, "Tough!" Sent it back to Trijicon, and they replaced them at no cost. Didn't have to, since they saw the marks on the slide, but one reason why I stick with them (Hogue is another good company who's customer service made me a lifetime customer). Sent it to CCR for plating, and sights still work after getting it back. This was early 2010, if I remember correctly. Sorry, but if it is taking a lot of force to install the sights that you are chipping the finish, wouldn't you stop and see what the problem is? Just added to the rest of the BS I've dealt with at Shore Shot, which ultimately made me stop going there.
  17. http://alleghenygunworks.com/ You can have a FS slide converted to G. If you are a member on BerettaForum, he is a member there. Good guy, and I think BerettaUSA does recommend him for 92/96 work.
  18. That stinks. He was a good guy. Remember him telling me about shooting .40 out of his Delta Elite (10mm), where the extractor was the only thing holding the round in place for the firing pin to make contact. Always had a good story to tell.
  19. Some of the older staff, I'd definitely say that is expected. Back in the day, I was very happy going in there. Newer guys... they are the reason why I refuse to go back. Bragging about selling someone, who is new to guns, useless stuff after he left isn't beneficial to the firearm community. Yelling at a buyer who checked the wrong box on paperwork because your coworker had to have a LOUD discussion across the shop to his friend, showing off a gun, pisses me off. But when someone tries to screw me on a Gallery of Guns sale by demanding the total cost of the firearm, not the balance, and will only do the right thing after I pull the email up on my iPhone, you lost someone that spends thousands of dollars each year on firearms as a customer. That was all in one day... but the attempt to get more money out of those sales did happen to family/friends on multiple occasions. Brick Armory doesn't get my business, either. Buying $1,600 worth of pistols, then being jerked around for almost three months (being told they shipped/shipping tomorrow multiple times in that same span of time), I said the hell with anyone in Lakewood. For FFLs, I'll use Paul from NJ Arms, and will join Central Jersey in the next few months.
  20. Got the new magazine... works 100% fully loaded. Thanks, MidwestPX, for redesigning it. I PMed you about it.
  21. Just got done at the range in Pennsylvania... same issue with fully loaded Bulgarian 30 rounders. 29 worked fine. I tried a 75 round drum (don't know the country, but those ones with the flip back), and it worked good with 75 rounds. When we loaded, could have got 76 in, but didn't want to put more in a magazine that I didn't own. Don't like breaking other people's stuff. Hopefully waiting on the test magazine, but unsure if it will work. I've been looking for similar problems from other WASR owners, but didn't find any yet. I don't want to mess with the carrier, nor do I really want to change it out, but if it doesn't work, it might come down to it.
  22. I'd appreciate that, but unsure if it will work. Been looking into it... WASRs are converted from single stacked rifles, and opened up to accept standard magazines. That, in itself, isn't an issue. The wider tab on the single stack bolt carrier likely is. Since the WASRs didn't feed from both sides, just the center, it didn't need to worry about pushing a round on either side down to load. I'm supposed to go up to a friends house in Pennsylvania the end of the week, and can bring the rifle to see if standard AK magazines have the same issue (obviously with his 30 rounders). Doubt it, since there wasn't a worry about fitting in a 31st round in the Soviet Union. jermz1987, does your bolt carrier look like mine? Don't know if Century ever modified them, or if there was bigger differences in specs on the original guns. I'm going to look into it more. Don't know if swapping out the carrier will change headspace, but that could be the way to deal with it. MidwestPX, if you can take anymore off the spacer without making a 16 rounder, let me know. I'll add in any info I get on this, in case any other WASR owners are in the same boat. Before I joined here, I had pinned magazines from RifleGear, which one had a similar issue as I have (couldn't load with 15 rounds, but could with 14). Had to send it back for a shave and a haircut, so figured it might have been something similar. DAMN AK is more picky than my AR!
  23. I got my three magazines... all fit in my WASR, but none will feed with 15 rounds from a closed bolt. Not enough room for the rounds to go back in the magazine, and hangs up the bolt to the point where you have to pull the magazine to get it free. Shot of the scratches on ammo. And what I'm dealing with. Put 14 in, feeds fine. The 15th doesn't have more than a 1/16" of play for the bolt to push down. Definitely won't get the 16th round in, but wanted the 15 to fit. Guess there isn't anything I can do, since they are permanently pinned.
