  1. If you register with SA, occasionally you get a good email deal. Last one I got was 30% my entire order from the e-store. Picked up a bunch of 13 round factory mags.
  2. Mod 2 is a great weapon. I have the 3.3" .45 as my off-duty, shoots very well out of the box, highly doubt you will be disappointed. Like the others have said, some nice goodies in the box, fiber optic sight is great, lots of accessories available for it. Flush mount mag is great for concealing, if you have the ability to carry. I like the X-tension, gives a full size grip to a compact weapon. On the other hand, my first duty weapon was a gen 1 G23. Shoots well, my original probably had close to 10,000 rounds through it over the course of 10 years. I had one slide release spring break, and I honestly don't ever remember a fail to feed or fire. Just issued a new gen 4 G23, had a couple fail to feeds, but mainly I think that was due to shooting before I had time to really disassemble and lube everything. It really will come down to personal preference. You have Glock guys, Sig guys, Springfield guys, etc. Everyone tells you their particular weapon brand is the best. Only you can make the final decision. Go to a local and knowledgeable local gun shop and look at everything. You might be surprised by what you see that you like and what feels comfortable. Then check the ranges that rent weapons, and see if any have the ones you like if you don't know anyone who has that model. Rent a few, shoot and see what you like. I see you're in Monmouth County, check out Howell Gun Works, great guys, know their stuff, pretty good sized selection all the time, and they will take the time to educate you, just maybe not on a Saturday at noon!
  3. I can't speak personally for the FOP or any of the Fire Departments out there, but the NJ PBA and any local PBA's do not solicit via telephone. Period. There are countless numbers of so-called "police/fire fund raising organizations". Thats all they do. Raise funds. Never goes to the actual PBA.
  4. As of 11 am yesterday, Howell Gun Works still had one. Don't recall the price though.
  5. Search youtube for Hank Johnson. This was not his only shining moment.
  6. I know a few of the Enterprise Rent a Cars here in Monmouth County have them for rent. Also, try a dealer like a few others have mentioned, they may have one or two in the loaner fleet you can drive for a few days.
  7. Your county should have a dump you can take it to. SHouldn't cost more than $10-$20 to get rid of.
  8. Best thing to do is contact Camden directly. Since they were taken over/reorganized, I'm not sure of the requirements. I am fairly certain they are no longer civil service.
  9. I just did this yesterday in Long Branch, records guy told me that they usually get a response back same or next day, then they do thier end. I'm not expecting a lot, being New Years Eve, but my last permits came in after about 2 weeks. The biggest kicker is that now, everytime you submit a P2P, you have to do the online B/G check, and its another $18. Guess I'm back to 3 at a time.
  10. There is a full civil service test in the fall, nut unfortunately, registration is closed. Next test will be annouced most likely in the fall of 2015, for a test early in 2016. Keep an eye on the NJ civil service website. http://www.state.nj.us/csc/seekers/jobs/announcements/ Best of luck, I've got 11 1/12 years in, and love it.
  11. Because the suspect turned and pointed his weapon at the responding officer.
  12. Just ordered a box a few minutes ago, so far all went thru. See if I get a shipping confirmation.
  13. Very partial to my Marlin 39A Golden Mountie. 40+ years old and still shoots as good as new.
  14. I don't find it uncomfortable at all. I'm 6'2" 225, plenty of legroom and space. The first gens sat kind of low to the floor, but the later ones are totally different. Drive it everyday, no problems in uniform or out with being uncomfortable.
  15. My new Toy, literally! I've wanted one of these since the Marty McFly days! I love this thing. Best vehicle purchase I've made in a long time.
