  1. Ok, got another unique Beretta - I call it the "Papi Greco" gun. If you've seen the move "Two Guns", this is what I think Papi would have used. Found this at my local FFL's months ago and finally talked him into selling it. Yes, I know it's a bbq gun but I like my Berettas and this is just too cool. Gold and silver plated throughout with obvious carry wear, and it's filthy inside from being shot. It's a Centurian. The back story is this came out of a police impound in Arizona after being recovered during a drug raid when it was found in a field, supposedly after being dropped during a chase. Seems (so I'm told) the police are required to sell recovered guns unless it can be proven they were used in a crime. My FFL regularly buys from impounds and this showed up. Story could be completely made up but that's what I got.
  2. Aguila bulk pack - four 300 round boxes.
  3. I'm sure it was "buddy" pricing. Pretty sure it was his cost. No idea. I walked into the shop, he handed me the case and told me I owed him $450. Easy peasy.
  4. My FFL just sold me 1200 rounds of 55grn 5.56 for $450. I realize it's not a great price when compared to the past, but for the current situation I think it's a steal! I don't usually keep much 5.56 on hand since I don't shoot it much but I think with the election and fallout after November it will only get more expensive. Yes I know, late to the party but at $.38 a round with today's craziness I figured it was worth it.
  5. Here's Marley. She's 13 weeks and we got her 6 weeks ago as a rescue. Had to go back to NJ to pick her up from the shelter after her bus ride from Missouri.
  6. The tax increase raises $390mm, the payments are about $350mm. When the tax increase fails to raise enough to balance the budget, and it won't for obvious reasons , Murphy will then demand the threshold be lowered and the rebates will disappear - just like the property tax rebates of years past. Pretty soon anyone with a job will be paying that rate. Anyone with that income level is looking for an exit strategy. Anyone making that income has already crunched the numbers. The biggest challenge is what to do with their real estate. The dems already showed them how to work remote. I wasn't at that income level and I saved enough in income taxes the year I moved to pay for the entire relocation.
  7. I used to buy Anderson lowers when they were available - last time I bought 5 at $25 each. Yes, about a year ago though. They're mil-spec so I never understood why some folks spend more for a different roll mark. Spend the money on what matters - trigger, barrel, bcg, etc.
  8. Also a mix of 2 & 3. I hang out at the local gun shop and people are still trading in / dropping off ammo. Every once in a while I score some at a decent price. Not cheap like before, but decent. For various reasons I also haven't been shooting as much so I have about the same amount now as I had a year ago.
  9. I doubt it. My days being able to walk into the LGS and find something interesting for $200 are gone. I used to be able to get Springfield XD's, Ruger SRx, similar stuff for that all day. Now, the worst functioning handgun is worth $250, all because the buybacks pay that much for handguns. If the store can't get that much from the public that's what happens to the cheap stuff. Ammo is out there if you only want a couple boxes for defense. There are so many first-time buyers that only want 1 box so they can feel secure. They're the one that worry me the most. No training, fear and an unknown fight-or-flight response.
  10. Like Fishnut, it was 2 years ago we left NJ for New Hampshire. My property taxes are about the same here as they were in NJ, but with no state tax and no sales tax, I saved enough the first year to pay for the move. I miss our friends and some of the things we did ther,e and there is NO good pizza here, but it will be a cold day in hell before I ever move back to NJ. With the new borrowing the state just dug the deep hole deeper. I don't see anything good happening in NJ during my lifetime.
  11. Why wouldn't he be? You've probably put his kids through college by now...
  12. Hope you're all safe. Here in NH we're getting absolutely nothing, and we really need the rain...
  13. Sorry to hear that. I did the same thing when I was in NJ. My FFL would call me with stuff like this. If a shipment came in he'd pick up the phone. That FFL is regularly bashed on this forum for his prices - I never had that issue, and it's not that I'm such a nice guy...
  14. As something to consider, I just picked up a case of 9mm from my FFL for $250. It's a bit higher than I usually pay but given the availability it was a bargain. That same case on his shelf would go for $400. Yes, 9mm is going for $20 a box on the shelf when there is any available. I keep saying it and it's true - build a relationship with your local FFL. He sold me a case at the same time he's limiting retail sales to 2 boxes. I think his cost was $230 - he made a whopping $20 off me.
  15. I have three vehicle projects in various stages of progress. The '56 Pontiac has been in my wife's family since 1958. I pulled it out of the garage in NJ last October for the first time in 40 years and pulled it up to NH. I've been slowly bringing her back to life. Got it to the point where I drove my wife around the neighborhood a couple weeks ago and BANG - blew the trans putting it back in the garage. The Mustang I've owned for 25 years. I just finished putting in a new engine (347 Stroker) and trans (T5 z-spec). Playing with it now to sort the fuel injection system. The truck I bought a month ago as a project to flip, but it's growing on me. It got 210k miles on it b ut no rust - unheard of up here - so I've been doing the typical maintenance on it - timing chains, tensioners, suspension - that's needed from the miles. WHo knows, maybe I'll keep it. I still visit my FFL every day or so just to hang out. Every once in a while something interesting comes in. Last purchase was an Iver Johnson Pony in the original box with papers.

With the all the craziness going on these days it's been a while since there has been anything cheap on the shelves at my FFL. Seems like as soon as something comes in it goes right back out the door again for some ridiculous money. Seems things are starting to slow, at least until election debates start up again and Beto get's another recommendation from the forgetful one. I was in the store when this got traded in. Anything in .40s&w up here in NH is about as popular as Corona now so I was able to pick it up cheap - $150 out the door, plus another $50 for 4 more mags he had in a bargain bin. While not the best gun out there, these are an interesting mix of S&W and Walther. Walther made the frames, S&W made the slide and barrel. It's a da/sa with a decocker - not many striker-fired ones like that. I'll try it as my winter carry gun for a bit. At the price I paid it could go to a buyback and I'd be ahead. Anyone else have one of these?
  17. I like my RIA models, but pay attention to the sights on some of their model lines. The old GI-style sights I find very difficult to use at the range. Still shoot great though, just harder to hit what I want with my old eyes. Hard to beat a $400 1911 though.
  18. My latest 1911 purchase - Kimber Custom LW in 9mm. FFL had it listed as used, but it's never been fired. Was too cheap to pass up. Yes, I know Kimber has a mixed rep but I've always had good ones. I like the two tone with contrasting controls.
  19. Some people are just so nice!
  20. Almost a 1911, close enough to be included here. Anyone have one of these Colt Ace Conversion Units? Would love to get some history on this if anyone knows how to tell the age. This one has been shot, looks like a lot. Saw it at the FFL and it was cheap enough to take home. Complete kit but no box. Tried it on a couple of Colt frames and seems to work great. Slide locks back on an empty mag like it's supposed to .
  21. Did you walk into the pawn shop wearing a mask, and was anyone chasing you when you left? You stole that...
  22. Applied for the permits on 3/30. Looks like 30 days on the nose. I have three guns waiting. First pick-up is a 6" nickel S&W Model 57 on 5/19. Adios, Pizza Bob Hey! I've seen that gun somewhere before...
