  1. I don't want them to STOP LE sales!!! I want LE sales to be held to the same laws that us peons are held to. You'll then hear the screams when LE departments say that they can't effectively defend themselves with only 7 rounds... well duh! That's what we've been saying all along.
  2. State police made me supply two stamped addressed envelopes. They ended up calling only one of my references via telephone and did not send out the reference letters. Don't know if it's standard procedure or because I have a squeaky clean background. My employer? I told the HR person in advance. She said, "no problem." As far as I know they didn't contact them. Didn't expect a problem from my job, especially considering who I work for. I'm not complaining though...
  3. I'm surprised your town didn't reassess it shortly after the sale.
  4. I'm not willing to give up anything. But if they are pushing 10 round limit and not backing down, CCW shall issue would be nice to have.
  5. Good question. Given how liberal many of them are I'd say NO. Your kid would have better luck with football or basketball.
  6. Our town was hammered with appeals so they just dropped a bunch of people's assessment. They didn't even have to appeal. My tax bill went down by about 2k.
  7. Son of a gun. 32k permits from a GAO study. http://www.gao.gov/a.../600/592552.pdf Still only about 0.5% of the population. One of the lowest in the country.
  8. Can I get one? I've stopped so many cyber attacks already. I'm hoping anonymous shows up at my door so they can threaten me and I can finally have justifiable need for a CCW. LMAO.
  9. I think it's 3200, three thousand two hundred and most of them are retired police.
  10. That's an interesting one. I wonder if we can do like the atheists and put a billboard. I would want it close to November though.
  11. There's still C-Band. There are not so many of the popular cable TV channels in the clear though. But there are still plenty of feeds and specialty channels. There is also a national feed of PBS and a few other networks. Analog is all but gone now. There's also FTA Ku band which you can get with the same or a smaller dish but a Ku band LNB. But most of it is foreign language and religion. It's fun to surf the channels and birds though.
  12. That's wrong. They should 301 redirect it not simply make it an alias. It's bad for SEO.
  13. I would contact the local 2A organizations (NJ2AS, ANJRPC). Credit history? They are not supposed to ask for this. It's not like you're applying for top secret clearance. It's just a lousy firearms ID card for crying out loud. Not only is it an unnecessary burden but it's ripe for identity theft. I know it's the police and all but I hesitate giving out my info to anybody.
  14. Going to set my faxes to go off in the dead of night because I'm sure it will be busy all day.
  15. Jesus H Christ on an effing pogo stick.... NRA-ILA just sent out an email too.
  16. I think it's a superior court Judge you have to get to approve a CCW, not a police chief... And they're appointed, not elected and not supposed to take bribes.
  17. I just keep internet service from the cable company. It's $10/month more but I still come out ahead. if you really want to divorce yourself from the cable co the phone companies offer DSL but it is slow.
  18. An antenna will get you all the local channels. If you're out where I live you'll need it up on a tower... if you're most everywhere else on your roof is best. You're not getting HBO by itself. They want you to get cable or satellite. For TV reception I like this site the best: http://www.tvfool.com These guys can help you out with reception (I'm a mod there): http://www.dtvusaforum.com As for me personally? I have DirecTV. 2 year contract though but you get discounts including $10/month for 10 months if you get referred by a friend.
  19. Oh I've been to SLC. Very friendly people. Satellite TV is a point taken. I'd maintain my service address in NJ and just "move"
  20. The only problem I would have with UT is that the place is literally LDS land. I mean, everything is dominated by the LDS church. You turn on your TV at night during prime time and they censor out the offensive stuff, because the TV stations are owned by the mormon church. It's nice for family and all and the mormons are not bad people in the least but I am all about freedom. 2nd amendment and 1st amendment and everything else. I am thinking the Carolinas may be nice. I've been there. RTP in NC is growing. Apple even opened up a new datacenter in the state. Tennessee is not too bad either. Been there for work a good few times. Only problem is that it's landlocked, so if you like the ocean it's not for you. But there are scenic hills and everything else and there is no state income tax.
  21. Amen to that. I only really have one reason to stay in the North East and that is pension, for both my wife and I. It's also why I had to turn down paid relocation to Dallas/Ft Worth a few years ago. Still kicking myself in the balls every day for that one. But moving is a real possibility when we retire in the future. I just don't see ourselves being able to afford living here.
  22. Yeah i don't think NJSP is all that much "better." I had to call multiple times to get the sergeant on the phone to make an appointment. Monday to Friday 8AM to 1PM. The trooper taking my app forgot to give me the fingerprint form. I had to ask for it. Took 2 months to get FID and PtP. I'm sure it's worse now. My friend in West Caldwell said it took him 30 days and it was much easier.
  23. I looked at a few others including Illinois, Nevada (Las Vegas MPD), Texas and California. The only one I've found asking "were you denied before" was California, but bear in mind they also require a psychological exam before you can get a CCW. And I doubt someone disgusted with NJ firearm laws is moving to California.
