  1. there are only 2 forms you should need.. the form to order the P2P (which is the same form as the FPID) and the mental health consent form.. then you pay the $18 for the background check (yellow form, has to be done at the PD) and however much money for the permits ($2 per) and that should be it.. anything more and its just your local PD that is asking for more stuff not sure what is meant by a packet, as i only had to fill out those 2 forms (new FPID, so no yellow form)
  2. well what a stupid f*ing law.. lol.. but ok, thanks for the heads up.. if i really want to shoot it (which i cant see happening if i get my CZ that im looking at), i will either have to drag her along or break the law to get it there.. (breaking the law is not something i really like to do)
  3. OK, i want to clarify something.. we have a .38spl.. it is my wife's gun (she got her FPID years and years ago, well before i met her, and also bought this gun before we met).. i do NOT have my FPID yet (ipaperwork in process as we speak) We recently went to the range and we brought said .38 with us. she has her FPID with her at all times.. it was unloaded, in the back of the SUV, etc, etc. Only drove back and forth to the range with it.. I am assuming that was perfectly legal now, another situation arose.. I wanted to go to the range by myself (she didnt feel like going). I was thinking about bringing the .38spl with me to the range (same setup as before), but decided it was probably not the best idea because i do NOT yet have my FPID, and without her in the car, i figured that would be illegal. are my assumptions both correct? seems like they are, but wanted to make sure.. (and also, when i get my FPID, i assume I can bring the .38 with me by myself to go to the range even though its registered under her name?)
  4. sorry, but that sounds like a load of crap to me. an $18 background check is what they are supposed to do after you are fingerprinted.. (at least, that was what i was told by my PD)
  5. put my paperwork (FPID, 2 P2P's) in 1/14, printed 1/22.. lets see how long it takes.. im guessing it will be 3-4 more weeks.. i know they havent contacted my references yet (I work with one of them, and they have not received a call or questionnaire yet)
  6. arent prints digital now? why would you need to have that done again? (or is your original print pre-dated to the digital printing?)
  7. welcome fellow Howell-ite. i, too, go to Shore Shot, but I am even more of a noob than you are in terms of shooting.. (twice, ever)
  8. waiting for my permits first, and then waiting to find a CZ 75B Matte Stainless (or Hi-Pol if that becomes available first)..
  9. they way i have done it to the range is i have a zipped up duffel bag.. in that duffel bag is a locked plastic case that contains my empty revolver.. in that same range bag is a box of ammo and ear/eye protection.. end of. i have an SUV, and as long as you have that duffel bag in the back of the SUV (and not in the back seat, where its more easily reachable), you should be fine.
  10. all out.. amazing how fast stuff is going
  11. apparently.. fugggg... that said, i dont even have my P2P's yet.. when i get them, i will be scouring high and low and constantly, everywhere.. (oh, and if you ever wanted to sell it.............)
  12. wait, you bought a CZ 75B stainless??? you mean you actually found one?
  13. this is the same with us, except we dont put it in a safe in the morning.. just stays in our nightstand.. (and no kids).. if we build up a 'collection' (which we are in the beginning stages of doing), then we might get a safe, but for now, just 1 snubbie S&W 640 .38spl, so no need for a safe yet...
  14. heh.. easier said than done.. especially these days.. whilst i agree with you, i'm sure that many newer buyers have a heavy factor in price.. for me personally, im not factoring that much (i want the darn CZ75b Matte stainless and am willing to pay more than MSRP if, and thats a big if, i can find one).. i would love to be able to get a CZ and a little 22 (Sig Mosq or P22 or Ruger SP22) for less than $1,000 if possible.. oh, once i get my P2P's of course.. still waiting on those
  15. Shore Shot has the Lawman 9mm for 18.95 per box (at least thats what it was 2 weekends ago when i went), so 18 is a little bit better.. but not much i hope if anyone finds a good deal on in stock 9mm, they spread the wealth a bit.. lol just got some Fed RWB target shells at Cabelas for $65 (case).. seems like a decent enough deal for target loads, but target shot shells arent nearly as hard to find right now.. is that a normal price for target shells? (i'm new to shotguns)
  16. heh.. be glad you actually FOUND it..
  17. you'll have to let me know how you like the Mosquito.. I was thinking about picking up either that or Ruger SR22 or a M&P 22 as my "second permit" pistol (the first being the phantom CZ75B matte stainless that I plan to get once my two P2P's come in). I am not a huge fan of the Ruger MkII or III (i simply just dont like the look of it for some reason),,, i have heard that the Sig and S&W 22 have FTE and FTF issues with certain ammo..
  18. Gotta love my Alma Mater! Go Rochester! Go RIT! (im originally from there and went to school at RIT)
  19. so you probably got the one they told me they had about a month ago.. lol.. they told me the same thing about ordering (would take approx. forever)
  20. have to ask, where did you get it? CZ's are impossible to find these days, although i called Cheyenne about a month ago and they had one in stock and it was your exact gun (.40 , blued).. once my P2P's come in (soon hopefully), im going to be scouring the interwebs (and calling LGS's) for a 9mm matte stainless, or hi-pol if i can even find one of those... even though i've never shot one, everything i have researched is leading me to believe its exactly what im looking for..
  21. how long after anyone submitted paperwork did your PD send out the reference questionnaires to your references? (not sure if my PD calls or mails).. i submitted on 1/14, printed on 1/22 and my references have not received anything yet from my PD re: reference check.. i know my refs will send back ASAP once they get (if mailed).. since this is the first time for me (FPID and P2P's), not sure how long my town takes (although I've heard its not terrible comparatively).
  22. what kind of CZ75B did you get? (caliber and finish).. just curious as they seem darn near impossible to find.. (although, maybe the blued and .40 are not as hard to find as the SS in 9mm?) really interested in one, but a) still waiting for P2P's to come in and b) want one of the SS's (preferably matte) and those seem literally impossible to find..

    My new Hi-Pol CZ

that is my 9mm wish purchase once i get my P2P's in the next month or so. I would prefer to get the matte stainless, but if i can only find the hi-pol, i would be more than willing to get it. (the wife likes the hi-pol more, but since its primarily going to be mine, i would like to get the matte) wherever did you find one? they are almost impossible to find
  24. my wife owns a 38 snubbie as well..
  25. I know this is a very silly question, but I am going to ask since it seems to be omitted from your original post. You mentioned that you started the process of getting your FID, but I did not see mentioned that you applied for P2P's as well.. (I only ask because you said you bought a Glock). I "assume" that you also applied for the P2P's when you submitted paperwork for the FID? If so, then nevermind.. lol Congrats on your new purchases. I am also new to all this, even though we've had a revolver for the past 15 years (wife's).. The wife also just bought a Maverick 88 Security shotgun that will be delivered to SS (as our FFL) on Monday, so we should be able to pick that up within the next week and a half once they run the NICS check.. (oh, and I also put my FPID and P2P papers in recently, about a week and a half ago in Howell)..
