  1. Don't we already have a CJRPC-members-only area on NJGunForums.com? Perhaps this discussion should be taken there....I'm not a CJRPC member, but I know I wouldn't want the internal workings of my club drug thru the mud for all to see...
  2. Continuing the thread....I had to be in Trenton earlier today, so on the way back I stopped at Sportsman's Center in Bordentown. They had 'em...for $19.99. Shoudda gone there first!
  3. From the web site: This program allows citizens to turn in unwanted weapons for cash payments of $100 for assault weapons, $50 for handguns and $25 for rifles or shotguns What are they doing? Running a sale, or is Monmouth County just cheap? It used to be $250 for "assault weapons" (whatever they are....I guess sinister black guns. Break-out the spray paint!)
  4. Some chairs for us, too?
  5. From what I have observed in the outer-rings of NJ suburbia - the public schools are very happy to provide a good education for those students that are willing to buckle down, do the work, and apply themselves. The public schools will also let the students skate-thru on bare minimums...if that is what the student & parents want (or allow to happen). The Private schools, on the other hand, will push the student to buckle down, do the work, and apply themselves...because they are pressured by (1) the teachers, who remind the students that if they want to skate-thru on bare minimums they should be in that 'public system', and (2), mom and dad, who keep the pressure on the student to buckle down, do the work, and apply themselves because they're paying good money for this education and they aren't going to skate thru on bare minimums... I have also found that picking and choosing school districts on the public side (what town you live in) DOES make a big difference, and I have also observed that the northern NJ school districts tend to be 'better' than the southern NJ school districts.
  6. I think the question is more what you want to put up with and what your position in NYC will allow. My father commuted to mid-town Manhaten for many many years from South Jersey. There is a steady stream of non-stop busses leaving from various locations all around South Jersey, for the hour and a half run to the Port Authority.
  7. Beautiful. I saw that collection being sold on gunbroker. Sad what happened to many of 'em, though it looks like you did EXTREMELY well. Good luck with it!
  8. N.J.A.C. 13:54-1.5 Prerequisites for a permit to purchase handgun or a firearms purchaser identification card (a) A permit to purchase a handgun, or a firearm purchaser identification card, shall not be issued to any person: 1. To any person who has been convicted of any crime, or a disorderly persons offense involving an act of domestic violence as defined in section 3 of P.L. 1991, c. 261 (N.J.S.A. 2C:25- 19), whether or not armed with or possessing a weapon at the time of such offense; I have a tough time buying that you "forgot" five disorderly persons convictions, rufus70.
  9. The police giving you "advice" are clueless. You currently have a denial attached to your name which is going to seriously complicate matters going further. At this point you don't need our guesses about how to proceed; you NEED a lawyer who knows how to deal with these issues. Evan Nappen comes to mind, but he is probably swamped. Inquire around here for a lawyer who knows how to address these matters, but don't bother with any other sage advice....get a lawyer who knows what he'd doing!

    Dan Wesson 357

They are excellent shooters-I've had the Pistol Pack for years n years. If you can find a longer barrel, like a 6" or 8", you'll be amazed what they can do. The 'preferred' versions are the model 15s made in Monson, Mass. see http://www.notpurfect.com/main/dwrev.htm for more info. See me if you want to sell...I'd love to have a second Dan Wesson model 15 frame.
  11. Awww....I coulda referred YOU and got $10!
  12. Today I am giving Shooter's in Little Egg Harbor a big -1. I got a box of T/C Maxi Balls from the shelves, marked $22.99 on the box. I thought that was a little high, but I wanted something to test the 50 cal I just picked up. When I went to check-out, the Maxi Balls rang up $29.99...seven dollars higher. When I pointed out that it was marked $22.99 on the box, I was told that it must be mis-marked, we only go with the price on the computer, and they would not honor the price on the box. I did not buy the box of Maxi Balls, and they seemed somewhat saddened that I would not buy them at the higher price. Anyhow, I did buy the other small items I had selected, but I think I am done with Shooter's.
  13. Yes! Inquiring revolver shooters want to know....
  14. Sad, yet probably true. I WANT to take a ride down, but I know it's going to be a zoo for at least a month.
  15. What's that noise I hear? Sounds like helicopter parents swooping in...
  16. The biggest problem with moving your firearms to CT is that litle strip of NY you have to (VERY CAREFULLY) drive thru. New York as almost as little respect for the Federal Firearms Owners Protection Act as New Jersey has.
  17. Um....sure, its "rare" for a black bear to attack a human, but a quick google turned-up the following: Bear kills 5 month old in Catskills - http://igorilla.com/gorilla/animal/2002/bear_kills_new_york2.html 12 year old attacked by black bear in Michigan - http://abcnews.go.com/US/12-year-girl-thought-goner-bear-attack/story?id=19997134 Ontario man mauled, dog killed by black bear - http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/headlines/2013/05/man-describes-mauling-by-black-bear/ Pennsylvania girl 18 mauled by black bear - http://abclocal.go.com/wpvi/story?id=9356607 Bear attacks 2 year old, kills 6 year old in Tennessee - http://www.chattanoogan.com/2006/4/13/83765/Chilhowee-Bear-Attack-Kills-Child.aspx I'm sure not volunteering to be the next one...

    My New Shotty

    VERY nice....how does it shoulder?
  19. My experiences and thought processes on SKS/AK/Mini14/AR.....(two cents, if you think it's worth that) I've had an SKS for quite some time; I bought mine back when the chinese SKS were coming in by the crate, and one could be had new for $100 to $125. They're great shooters, but now that they're $350 and up, I don't think they are the bargain they used to be. At that time, the SKS-AK price delta was high (3-4x), and, being essentially cheap, I never considered an AK...the SKS was more than enough. Now, with the increasing SKS pricetag and dropping AK prices, the delta is under 2x...and I'm not sure what you 'lose' with the SKS versus the AK is 'worth it' anymore. The only 'advantage' the SKS has over the AK is its not so 'sinister looking' in the minds of the population as a whole. I looked at the Mini-14/30's; both the .223 and 7.62x39, and I kind of like the overall 'look' of them...polished steel and walnut just looks better to me than black plastic and aluminum. 'Made in America' is also a big plug, in my view. But their accuracy reviews are so-so, and the price! Too much for me! I then looked at the S&W M&P 15 Sport. Yes, its a 'low-end' AR, but the price wasn't so bad, and reading the various reviews...what you lose (dust cover and forward assist) isn't such a 'loss', anyway. Even though there isn't any polished steel or a sliver of walnut on it, I was sufficiently impressed that I took the plunge. Straight off, I could see why everyone likes the overall layout and function of the AR platform...and at the range, it easily out-shot my SKS...keeping it on a pie-plate at 100 yards is no problem. So....given the choice between an SKS, and AK, or a Mini-30? I'd pass on all three and go with the S&W.
