Cost of living comparison: NJ vs. Other States
Sniper replied to falcone's topic in General Discussion
I think there will be a TON of people saying that come tax time this year, when they find out that can only deduct the maximum amount of $10K on their taxes, and that's before any state income tax. There will be a whole bunch of people sending IN a check with their tax return, versus expecting a refund. Just watch the mass exodus after April..... -
Is the term "Assault Rifle" an actual item that can be purchased. Which manufacturer sells an assault rifle by name? Does PSA have an "assault rifle" category of rifles? Also, this is more of the "creeping in" of chipping away at the 2A, little by little....... Is it time yet????? SEATTLE — Washington on Tuesday joined a handful of other states that ban anyone under 21 from buying a semi-automatic assault rifle after voters passed a sweeping firearms measure in November that has drawn a court challenge from gun-rights advocates. The ballot initiative seeks to curb gun violence by toughening background checks for people buying assault rifles, increasing the age limit to buy those firearms and requiring the safe storage of all guns. Only the age-limit portion of the measure goes into effect on Jan. 1; the rest becomes law on July 1. "Starting today, young adults between the ages of 18 to 20 will have their rights to purchase semi-automatic rifles stripped away," said Dave Workman, a spokesman for the Bellevue, Washington-based Second Amendment Foundation. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/washington-bans-anyone-under-21-buying-assault-rifles-n953576

Cost of living comparison: NJ vs. Other States

That's definitely a big piece of it. Years ago, we moved from Monmouth County (Freehold) down to Virginia, outside of Richmond. We bought a bigger, new, custom built 5 bedroom house for half the price of our old house. Plus, property taxes were 1/4 what they were in NJ. Since mortgage/taxes make up your largest bill in the month, that's substantial. I remember car insurance was also less than NJ. Everything else (like groceries and other daily stuff) were comparable in costs to NJ. The other big thing we noticed was the way of life. People were so much nicer, didn't stab you in the back every chance they got, things moved a little bit slower. It was a great place to raise the kids. That's also an important piece of the puzzle that needs to be considered. -

It WAS a folding stock before the Communist regulations of NJ stopped it with a pin. Actually, my son has a Mosin, but shot outside, and yeah, they go boom. Can't imagine what it would be like indoors. -
Fourthing (is that a word?) the DeWalt. I have a 18v 1/2" impact, haven't used it all that much, but it definitely does the job. I have two other DeWalt drills, my favorite is actually a 12v 3/8 drive with Lith Ion batteries. Amazing battery life, really lightweight for overhead work, drills any holes I need and will drive 3" wood screws. Amazing stuff for a small drill.

I always wear protection inside or out, but the muzzle blast from an AR is definitely not pleasant, specially when the guy in the next lane has a crappy brake on his. The pistol caliber carbines are much more forgiving to the ears, and just as much fun. Here you go: -
It's easy to get to 10,000 at that pace.

I was wondering why revolvers? When spending OUR money, why not load up on semi-autos? -

I have a CX4, it's at the top of my list. Second would be my Scorpion. What's nice is that you can shoot them indoors without gong deaf, like with .223. -

Those gremlins.... Are you sure THIS didn't happen: -
I never knew going after tax cheats required such an arsenal and high level of weapons. It makes you think that they classify all of us as Al Capone. Also, the IRS stockpile makes you guys look like a bunch of amateurs with your collections. The Internal Revenue Service had in its weapons inventory 4,487 guns and 5,062,006 rounds of ammunition as of late 2017, according to a report published this month by the Government Accountability Office. Included in this arsenal, according to the GAO, were 15 “fully automatic firearms” and 56,000 rounds of ammunition for those fully automatic firearms. The guns in the IRS inventory also included 3,302 pistols, 623 shotguns, 543 rifles, and 4 revolvers. The ammunition stockpiled by the IRS—in addition to the 56,000 rounds for its fully automatic firearms--included 3,156,046 pistol and revolver rounds, 368,592 shotgun rounds and 1,481,368 rifle rounds. Also, making sure the Romaine lettuce is safe requires some major firepower too!!!! The same report--"Federal Law Enforcement: Purchases and Inventory Controls of Firearms, Ammuntion, and Tactical Equipment"--says that the Office of the Inspector General of the Department of Health and Human Services had 194 fully automatic firearms and 386,952 rounds of ammunition for those fully automatic firearms. Just remember this famous line: "We're from the Government, and we're here to Help". https://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/terence-p-jeffrey/gao-irs-had-4487-guns-5062006-rounds-ammunition

Safe?? As in singular... as in one?? That's so sad. -
It's been a slow and painful road, for sure.

I'm wondering if it happens when linking to a post at the end of a long thread/page. I'll have to pay attention, that might be it. When scrolling the Activity tab, if the new post is only a few spots down the thread, it will go directly to it. If that post is at the end of the page, that might be why it doesn't go directly, but stops on a post somewhere mid-page. I'll have to track it. -

No lag. I'm on a laptop running Firefox. This didn't happen before the forum update. I'm on the same version of Firefox, so no updates here. Trying to follow along to see if it replicates, but haven't seen a pattern yet. -

Wait a second... what about a pistol caliber carbine in a common caliber like 9mm, .40, 45, etc? They need some love too, ya know. -
Why tag you, are his fingers broken?

How is it changed and who can change it? Can people just ignore it if they feel like it? In your case, it's neither. Why is that?

Question, when scrolling new Activity, when I click on a new post, it doesn't always take me directly to that post. Sometimes I just get dropped haphazardly somewhere in the thread, and have to scroll down to the new post. Doesn't happen all the time. -
The battery expansion is a common issue with the Samsungs which causes the cases to deform. Also, it could be a dangerous issue when charging it. Just a heads up. https://www.google.com/search?ei=tXYpXIOrBoid_Qb437-oBw&q=samsung+s5+battery+expanding&oq=samsung+s5+battery+expand&gs_l=psy-ab.1.0.0.39793.41874..44527...0.0..0.113.636.6j1......0....1..gws-wiz.......0i71j0i67j0i22i30.I06x-87YT-I
