  1. I get him trying to rally the base of gun owners here in NJ .. I applaud him for that ... although at times he does seem more interested in the $$ to be earned... however in some of his latest posts .. he is choosing the wrong words to use. Rallying people is all well and good with the facts and stuff.. but this fear mongering crap has got to go.
  2. No .. here he has no control ... on Facebook he can surround himself with his groupies. If anyone lashes out they get removed from his friends list and he can then ban them where they cant even comment on his posts anymore.
  3. yes its fear mongering .. and yes with his tactics Nappen seems like a douche. And if he has truly been fighting these archaic NJ gun laws for 30 years and this is where we are at today .. he sucks at his job.
  4. total time it takes will be a while .. depending on the town. But it seems each county has 1 person processing the mental health checks for the state and hudson county has a lot of population so that is usually the hold up. I would call the police station to verify not only their specific requirements but also to set an appt to drop off the initial paperwork. Most PD's only do it on specific days or within specific time frames of the day and most seem to require an appt. You also want to fill out the forms with a computer, dont fill them in by hand.. most won't accept that. On both forms for the signing and dating .. do not sign or date either of them... you will do that while in the police station. Not sure if all towns are the same. but my town wants 2 copies of the STS-33 form and a single copy of the SP-66 form. You will drop those off, show ID, pay the permit fees and they will give you a form that has some info on it for the fingerprints. go online, with identogo, set your first available appt at your preferred location and go get them done. Those cost i think $68. You also need your two references... different towns handles this differently .. my town gives me a form for each reference to fill out and it's up to me to go get them to fill it out and return it. Once those are returned, the wait begins. There is a thread on the forums here that folks from different towns have posted their wait times and experience. Mine was 84 days.. which seemed like an eternity. Even though all of this is supposed to be done in 30 days .. seems the average for most towns is 3 to 4 months for the initial FPID. Some smaller more rural areas seem to move quicker. it also helps if your PD/Police Chief is not anti gun... because sometimes the chief then sits on the permits for a while longer before signing them just in spite it seems. A little tip .. if you plan on getting any handgun permits, assuming your old enough ... mark that off and get at least 1 WITH your FPID. There is a similar crazy process for handgun permits.. while not as bad as the initial... still sucks... so its wise to check that off and pay for at least one of those WITH the initial FPID. Good luck ... and on the subject of Taylor ham .. never had it? Thats bad parenting, your parents should be ashamed ... go to the nearest diner and get a Taylor ham and cheese.. and if you like eggs get a taylor ham, egg and cheese.
  5. lol true .. Hudson county is no paradise
  6. no i still am .. that was a play on words i guess.. what would i be considered .. a hudsonite ?
  7. Im a maybe.... i would love to .. but it will be the last push to get the house ready for xmas and I will have family staying with me as well. So .. I want to but I have to be a maybe at this time.
  8. And ignore any posts from @Ray Ray on the subject lol
  9. Welcome .. from a fellow Hudson county-er
  10. Not sure what all the hate on facebook is about. Have an account.. accept no friends, dont need to post any pictures, like and follow the places, pages and groups you may like , like RTSP, Tanners sports center (always posting deals and sales), Luciano's guns and ammo(always posting deals and sales), Long Range Shooters and Precision Marksman group,CNJFO (you whiners won't miss the pig hunt announcements ), GFH, ANJRPC, OBRPC, SC Arms, Caso's Gun-A-Rama, Howell Gun Works (great to see their daily consignment posts), manufacturers like glock, sig etc just to name a few etc etc. and that's just some of the stuff I follow on facebook. And ignore all the other crap. LOADS of firearm info/news your potentially missing by at the very least not participating minimally on. Just as much wholesome "gun porn" on facebook to enjoy as there is here You haters should at least give THAT a try. if you still dont like it then kill your account.
  11. Just got back from RTSP Union... today was their grand opening.. the range is beautiful. They did a fantastic job on it. Kudos to them.
  12. Scratch that, they just showed up today. These things are sweet.
  13. I ordered a bunch of these on the 25th .. but mine still says "processing"
  14. Again .. NJ is just fat shaming my mags to hide in a dark metal box and with nothing else to do.... kids will be kids and pretty sure before I know it those 15's will make babies that grow up to be 30's and 40's... just sayin.
  15. Button or paddle is fine either way with me .. really depends on the size of the hand and the comfort and speed of which one can release the mag. As long as heal releases dont make a comeback im good lol
  16. "Murphy's law" states that "things will go wrong in any given situation, if you give them a chance," or more commonly, "whatever can go wrong, will go wrong." and now thanks to our most recent governors election ...it's now literally Murphy's Law that's screwing us. How ironic.
  17. Yea its sad .. Proper notification is what the few state lawmakers we have on our sides need to try to force into these provisions going forward. Like when the seatbelt law was going into effect .. as part of that they had to run ad's on TV, put up billboards, send out mailers etc .. all at a cost of millions of taxpayer dollars. if they get forced to do something like that for the general public when making a change it would become more cost prohibited that maybe it would help keep these form every getting approved in the first place.
  18. No I can't .. maybe it's all legal opinion .. but I know its been referenced a few times.. including this announcement in question (although the provision is not directly mentioned i looked)... I know i've heard nappan talk about it .. as well as Bach and Collandro too.. something about a previous provision for "high capacity" magazines making it illegal .. and since this new law doesnt say you can do it within the exemption period yada yada we all know its crap .. and its technically shit.. But it all comes down to the officer ... does he know enough to not cause a problem .. or not enough or worse doesn't care, slaps the bracelets on you and lets the court and lawyers figure it out later kind of thing. And as far as how the law works ... from what i've seen it seems its the opposite of how you say it is .. or how it should be .. what you say is logical .. but this is NJ afterall .. everything here with firearms is illegal first and we get exemptions to allow certain things. isn't that how everything in this god forsaken state is?
  19. Again I'm not a FFL cant speak to that directly ... but if you were unaware of the fact that since the signing of the law its technically illegal to even transport them during the exemption period (poorly written BS law i know), how do you know you dont need approval to store them for customers? Have you called the NJSP on this matter? I'm not trying to insult you or get into a pissing match .. im really asking if you have asked them about it? now as far as " The majority never read past the first page" and that being deceiving .. that is EXACTLY what is wrong with society today... they see a headline from ANYWHERE and just take it to the bank as being the WHOLE truth, regardless of the source. So with that your doing exactly the same thing everyone else does because of laziness or complacency and then getting mad because it wasn't the whole truth.
  20. Deceiving how? It clearly states: The guide reveals (among other things) non-obvious, lawful methods to continue owning magazines that hold between 11 and 15 rounds without modifying them, in addition to covering the conventional compliance options under the mag ban. For example,... and then it also says: Please see pp 3-4 of ANJRPC's guide here for additional details. Nothing deceiving at all. If someone only reads the announcement and goes no further... then that's their problem. It's an announcement of a 4 page guide... you want all 4 pages of legal info IN the announcement?? You can only lead a horse to water as they say. As far as the "pre-approval" ... im not a FFL so i cant speak to that. You are .. call the NJSP and ask them. I have no idea on that one ... maybe they just have something in writing form the NJSP that says its ok to do so? And yes .. under the way the law is written yes driving them to the post office to ship them would technically still be illegal. When the laws were first signed and they released an analysis of them back in June.. they stated this fact and the technicality around it poking fun of the BS law at the time.
  21. They do .. if you actually read their full guide and not just the cliff notes on the announcement: 5. STORAGE OF NON-COMPLIANT MAGAZINES INSIDE NJ!!! This is one of the lesser-known, nonobvious options under the new law. Unmodified magazines that hold between 11 and 15 rounds can be stored intact for their owners by willing FFLs in New Jersey under the new law without modifying the magazines! For those wanting either to await the outcome of a potential U.S. Supreme Court challenge, or who just need more time to decide what to do with their magazines, this is an available option. It does require a willing, trustworthy, and organized FFL with appropriate storage facilities, and the magazines must be properly transferred (see item 7 below for details) so they are received by the dealer no later than December 10, 2018. As far as the announcement shining more light on gunsitters... that whole deal also nets part of those proceeds to go towards the continued lawsuits on the issue .. so of course that's the one they will highlight. makes sense. As far as the shipping .. its a suggestion and a warning. The way this new law was written... even though we are within the "exemption time period" there was something about there being no technical exemption for possession while transporting them once the law was signed in June. So I guess by letter of the law you have an exemption to posses in your house until Dec 10th (180 days) but if while you are transporting them out of state to comply .. or to a FFL to have them blocked.. your technicialy in violation. Good ol BS NJ laws for ya.
  22. Ok so only the "stabilizer" or as I see referenced in places the "Stab" is legal then?
