jgofnj 5 Posted July 5, 2022 Been a several years since I got a permit to purchase a handgun. Moving from Hillsborough NJ to Belmar NJ. Before I fill out the application, I need to get my DL address updated. I believe I will get a sticker with my new address. Will that create an issue? I recall people having issues that the address on the DL needed to match the permit regardless of the address change sticker. True? also, any feedback on how Belmar is with issuing permits? Thanks. DPNJ 3 Posted July 5, 2022 Nj mvc no longer does stickers . You ca. change your address online or in person . They will issue a new DL with updated address , via mail or in person . Everything on your DL needs to match your FID
JackDaWack 2,895 Posted July 6, 2022 DMV hasn't issues stickers since at least 2016 when i moved. I had to get a new license with my new address updated. My PD, who never gives me issues with permits, said they couldn't process the application without it being updated. I'm not sure how this works with FARS now, since you don't physically show your ID. However, without that sticker anymore, the PD also told me you could recieve a traffic citation if the ID doesn't show your new address within a short period of time from moving if you were to get pulled over. I would advise just getting a new license to avoid any issues.
