Platkin’s office did respond to my request for comment on May 8, 2024. Platkin’s office offered the following insight on the situation:

I don't remember which NJ Lawmaker it was, but they stated he was against permits because blacks in his district were already killing too many people! And then the crickets.... Not ONE of them called him out, for his blatant racism.
