DevsAdvocate 112 Posted August 31, 2009 In order to do some modifications to my AR-15's gas block (replacing it), I would like to remove the pinned muzzle break, and replace it with a new one. Is it a simple process? Can I drill out the pin? What about pinning a new muzzle break on? What is the legality of this?

DevsAdvocate 112 Posted September 1, 2009 Yeah... but if I can do the majority of the work myself... I'd like to try. How much do they normally charge? And above all: how do i even ship my firearm?
Lublin 3 Posted September 1, 2009 Prices are listed on the site. I shipped my just my upper in a tube with great packing from all sides. Make sure what you ship it in can be reused because they do not provide shipping containers upon completion of services.
DevsAdvocate 112 Posted September 1, 2009 Yankee Hill Muzzle Break, Front/Rear Sight = $211.00 Daniel Defense Omega Rail (7" carbine) = $265.00 ADCO work (remove muzzle break, place new one on) = $70 Total = $556.00 Original cost of Stag Model-1 = $900.00 Total cost after mod = $1456.00 Potential cost of optics (Holo sights or red dot) ~$500.00 Wow. Mine grossed $2k a long time ago. I was going to sell it but then I thought about all the cash I have in it and decided to keep it. It's my overly equipped SHTF gun. DevsAdvocate 112 Posted September 1, 2009 Well, I only count the cost of the gun in terms of permanent stuff added to it. Optics can be removed or replaced, etc. Heck, you don't even really neeeeeeeed them if you don't want them. I also forgot to add the cost of night sights for the AR when it's all said and done. That'll be like an additional $180.00 abouts. Not really necessary. But for a SHTF gun... who knows.

Caine 147 Posted September 1, 2009 ARs are an expensive hobby but when the zombies come, you'll be happy you had one Anyway, regarding your original question, there's a guide on arfcom that talks about how to remove a muzzle device and also how to pin one on: http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=4&t=226782 look for the How to permanently attach a muzzle device section and Remove your permanently attached muzzle device. Pay particular attention to the legal disclaimer at the end of the "remove" section. ETA: I'm also a big fan of ADCO as I've mentioned a few times on this board. They did the "NJifying" of my AR and will undoubtedly send them any other ARs I need done.
DevsAdvocate 112 Posted September 1, 2009 What is their turn around time?
Caine 147 Posted September 1, 2009 I believe the current time is 7-10 business days (this does not include shipping time to them or back from them)
toknee 0 Posted December 19, 2009 Use a dremel heavy duty cut off wheel. Pay attention, so that you do not nick or gouge the barrel while cutting of the brake. After your work is done, replace with a new one, and make sure to blind pin it again.
Shane45 807 Posted January 29, 2010 Can I ask why your replacing it? If its because you want alow profile, it may be easier to cut the FSB off instead and go with: http://www.del-ton.com/Specter_Gas_Block_p/bp1068.htm
