Youth Shotgun

What is the difference between a youth 870 or 500 and the regular one? Can a 20ga youth be converted? Is it just a different stock? Can i just put a youth stock on a regular 870 express? Thanks. My wife is short. Looking for some ideas.

the barrel and stock are diffrent, the youth stock yields a 12 in trigger pull, over the 14 in standard trigger pull, the barrel is shorter on the youth models to balance the shotty.

Ok so can i just change the barrel and stock with regular ones? The reciever isn't different is it?

I believe some youth models (not sure which ones, unfortunately) allow the pump action to be brought further back towards the trigger, essentially shortening the length of the pump motion. I was in a similar situation when selecting a shotgun that my wife could handle.

The Mossberg 500 does this. I picked up a youth one recently and put a full sze stock on it. Works great.

A stock custom made is the best bet, spend a little more, your wife will be grateful. Start with light load. The stock is like an extension of your body.
