Fingerprints for first time pistol permit (I have FID)

I have my FID already, got it 3 years ago. Just turned 21, now getting pistol permit. I filled out my SP66 and STS-33, and I'm getting my check in order for the criminal history check ($18 i think).

 

 

Am I set or do I need more fingerprints? I'm in the same town that issued me the FID, nothings changed.

No you don't have to get your fingerprints done again. Just fill out all those mindless forms, pay the $18 plus $2 for each permit and go home and wait a long time. Well at least where I live its a long time. Good luck.

My local PD used the fingerprints already on file. Its a one time deal unless you move within the state-different County.

If your PD switched over to electronic prints they may require it. I'd call. Normally is shoulkdn't be required.

The $18 for the criminal history background check is in leiu of fingerprinting. You should be good to go.

The fingerprint requirement is based on the department;'s ability to positively identify the applicant. If the applicant is well known to the department, additional fingerprints usually aren't taken. The state leaves much up to the local departments in this area. AFIS is going to reduce the need for additional printing in the future.

A detective from my department told me that their policy is "If you haven't bought a gun in the past two years, then you need to get re-printed".

 

I left it at that, but I guess he means a pistol, because they wouldn't have a record of long guns.
