Selling ammo in nj

Since stores have to log it in their book and check fpid and stuff, what do we need to do to sell ammo locally. Can we mail it? Only ftf?

You can ship it, however, you still have to abide by the shippers' rules and regs regarding sending explosive/flammable materials. For UPS, tt needs to be marked with a "ORM-D" stamp/sticker and i think you need to send it out from a hub and not a branch. Pickup might be ok.

 

regarding personal sales, i'm not certain that the same exact rules apply since we aren't required to keep a log book. Not sure if even the handgun ammo to under-21 applies either but you should research the code if you're leary about you buyer.

 

Recently there was a guy selling some ammo here on the trader and he wanted your FPID and matching DL for the sale. I found that hilarious and irritating at the same time.

No person shall sell, give, transfer, assign or otherwise dispose of, or receive, purchase, or otherwise acquire handgun ammunition unless the purchaser, assignee, donee, receiver or holder is licensed as a manufacturer, wholesaler, or dealer under this chapter or is the holder of and possesses a valid firearms purchaser identification card, a valid copy of a permit to purchase a handgun, or a valid permit to carry a handgun and first exhibits such card or permit to the seller, donor, transferor or assignor.

 

No person shall sell, give, transfer, assign or otherwise dispose of handgun ammunition to a person who is under 21 years of age.

Not necessary FTF. Have the buyer send you a copy of his FPID, and also his DL as an extra measure. Then you can ship.
