ARoubian15 0 Posted August 20, 2011 As subject states, NJ is proposing the creation of a Firearms Advisory Task Force. This could be a blessing to modernize and expedite the process or a curse which could make it more difficult... "This Assembly Joint Resolution establishes a Firearms Advisory Task Force to review, evaluate, and make recommendations regarding New Jersey’s statutory and regulatory schemes and programmatic initiatives, particularly in regard to modernizing the firearm permitting and regulatory processes." http://www.njleg.state.nj.us/bills/BillView.asp Proposed Bill: http://www.njleg.state.nj.us/2010/Bills/AJR/29_R1.HTM
vladtepes 1,060 Posted August 20, 2011 why is it that in my short years of living.. any time the government creates a "task force" to "deal with something" that something tends to end up being worse than when it started.. not to mention the "funds" to pay for this "task force".. one can only hope for the best.. Pizza Bob 1,488 Posted August 20, 2011 Look at the date. This resolution is a year and a half old. Government moves slowly, but I don't think this ever got traction.

ARoubian15 0 Posted August 20, 2011 I saw the date. The Bill View does not seem to work now. In any case here was the process: 2/8/2010 Introduced, Referred to Assembly Law and Public Safety Committee 2/8/2010 Reported out of Assembly Committee, 2nd Reading 2/25/2010 Assembly Floor Amendment Passed (Burzichelli) 3/15/2010 Passed by the Assembly (75-0-2) 3/15/2010 Received in the Senate, Referred to Senate Law and Public Safety Committee It seemed to have moved quickly at first but not sure why it stalled once it was referred on 03/15/2010. I will call the Senate on Monday to find out more details.

I thought this sounded familar, IIRC this was brought up after Corzine rammed through OGAM, this was supposed to deal with our obsolete PPP system and other stupid regs we have here in NJ. As you can see they made it their first priority.

It'll stay there with all the CCW bills that are introduced every legislative year. :thsmiley_deadhorse:

A lot of legislators are worrying about their jobs right now, and if they see something pre-packaged that can be used for anti-gun purposes, they may support it to change the subject to increasing safety and crime prevention. Exactly... especially when the "committee" is a "mix" of firearms owners and state legislatures. Usually means.... "they stacked the deck" but made it sound good. They do this in our local school system and all it is, is "posturing". When the government (no clue) creates (bad idea) another government (over seen) committee... you're asking for trouble.
