Anselmo 87 Posted October 2, 2011 Eels are endangered? Wow, I've been out of the fishing loop for 10 years but never did I think eels would become endangered.
vjf915 456 Posted October 2, 2011 Is this issue with eels only regarding NJ, or is it nation wide?
Parker 213 Posted October 2, 2011 Quail hunting has been shut down sate wide, greenwood and biesleys point will be the only two places you can harvest quail.. Upland bird hunting in N.J. has been on a dizzying spiral downward for years. Only the put-and-take method for stocking keeps it alive. There are a handful of volunteers trying to make an effort to induce native bird populations to make a comeback but diminishing habitat, predators and lack of interest are the main causes for its demise. The state made an effort with hunters for five years trying to engage respondents to log their harvests, but that ceased in 2008. The cutting back on the long grouse season to diminish mortality was another key indicator. The state moneymakers are the fee-income tags for deer and turkey. Big game is the main draw. This is still on the DEP website, but they ended the survey in 2008. I have a Word doc from Andrew showing the results from the five years (2004-2008) it was conducted if interested. Upland Survey Note: There is a meeting of the upland game committee of the N.J. Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs on October 21st at 6:00PM at the Conservation Center, Assumpink Wildlife Management area. The issues that will be discussed are Six Mile Run project (introduction of and recent game count of pheasants in the area) and trying to get a dove season in N.J.
