Sig p226 roll pin location

So I have not seen this on any other p226 ive seen on the net. Is this a roll pin or a port for the striker pin assy? I cant find another pic that mirrors having a hole on top of the slide for a 226 and there doesnt seem to be any mention on the parts diagram. thx = )

Quite possible.. im just not sure why ive never seen in on another 226 pic before. From what ive seen n complete breakdown vids the pin on the side of the slide holds the assy. in, and a vertical pin holds it in place but does not go through the slide revealing itself to the exterior.

They must have changed it. My 226 from last year has it on the side. My buddy just got a 229 and his is on the top as well.

Yeah it has the side pin too.. just making sure i wasnt the only one. Just a matter of a new design Thanks for the input

The pin that goes side to side is the "Firing pin locater pin." the one you're seeing on top secures the new style extractor. If you turn the slide over you'll see the bottom of that pin. Driving it out from the bottom allows you to remove the extractor and springs.

226 that I just picked up has the same vertical roll pin. Mine has a feb 2012 manufacture date.
