Sell682 1 Posted August 13, 2012 Hello all, I like to know your at home dry-fire pistol drills. I'm looking for better trigger control. Thanks in advance.
Smokin .50 1,907 Posted August 13, 2012 Some techniques are slightly different with different pistols, due to their inherrent physical characteristics. What pistol are you trying to learn how to aim correctly and what type of ignition system (striker, DAO, SA, etc.) does it have? I tell folks to use a sharpie on a mirror. Draw a large dot, then with an empty gun and NO MAG to practice squeezing the trigger without moving the gun as you point it at the dot. Practice for five minutes, go do something else, and come back and do it again. The more you practice, the better you will get. Learning to align the sights and keep them aligned as the sear disengages and the shot breaks is what you're after. It SHOULD NOT be a surprise, as you need to overcome the obstacle of learning the end of the take-up on the trigger. Squeeze, don't pull! Dave
Jon 264 Posted August 13, 2012 I will usually grab an unloaded gun and point at random things while watching TV. Just focus on a smooth pull and your front sight, to make sure it doesn't move when the hammer drops.
