302w 83 Posted December 1, 2012 I originally posted about moving the front sight back several inches since I'm cutting down a Mosin, but I decided not to. Now I need a new front sight, and I don't know what to use yet. Only thing that comes to mind is a M38 base and sight but I'm open to suggestions. I saw an Enfield jungle carbine muzzle brake on one and it looked cool. I originally wanted to use a standard base with bayonet, but it won't work. junkmanted 54 Posted December 1, 2012 with out looking ,, there should be a pin just above the bayonet screw , that holds the assembly on
usnmars 136 Posted December 1, 2012 the front base is an integral part of the barrel. your only hope is to find an m38 front sight IIRC

302w 83 Posted December 5, 2012 I'm building a firespitter carbine, and want to use a bayonet of some sort. So I will likely be cutting the front base and silver soldering it back on since an M44 setup would be too long. I kind of do want to attempt to use an SKS bayonet, though (although I wont)
