The statute says the PD must collect that data. It is utterly pointless. That was blocked by Judge Bumb's preliminary injunction ruling, IIRC.

I brought one up to my local PD with 3 additional guns and they were very nonchalant about it. Like it wasn't necessary.

My useless interpretation is that "exposed" isn't printing. I think a prosecutor would have an uphill battle convincing a jury that printing is the same as exposed. I'm not trying to print but I'm not putting too much effort into not printing either. And, you are right about de minimis infraction doesn't mean you aren't charged. It just means the judge can choose to dismiss the case but the prosecutor gets to have a hearing on the dismissal first. So NJ can add them to the list of guns we own. I filled out the form listing the guns I intended to carry. I might change my mind though - since "One permit shall be sufficient for all handguns owned by the holder thereof"
