Long Island Firearms files Federal Lawsuit against SAFE!

Recommended Posts

Nice to see this!

(YOU MAY FORWARD / REDISTRIBUTE IS PERMITTED)

Long Island Firearms (LIF) together with Second Amendment Preservation (SAF) and Shooters Committee for Political Action (SCOPE) filed a federal lawsuit yesterday against Governor; Andrew Cuomo and Superintendent of the Division of Police; Joseph D'AMICO with regards to the NYSAFE law specifically addressing the magazine limits.

"This is a monumental day that not one but three groups have come together to challenge the NYSAFE law which is a direct violation of our rights" says Steven Blair, administrator of Long Island Firearms. "We are thrilled to be working with such prestigious organizations on this lawsuit. "It's about time something is done to put an end to actions that effect local law abiding citizens, enough is enough!"

Visit the site for the actual lawsuit files and group discussions.

Long Island Firearms is an online community consisting of thousands of members within the Long Island / New York area. LIF operates a firearms club, promotes responsible firearms ownership through its educational website and through frequent workshops, covering topics such as firearms safety and maintenance. Aside from its focus on firearms, LIF also seeks to provide a means for gun owners to contribute to the community as a group, and they sponsor blood drives, coat collections for the needy, and other community services. In the lawsuit filed by the NYSRPA against the SAFE Act:, they have spent $164,000 on the suit as of May and they have received an additional $80,000 from the NRA Civil Rights Defense Fund.

As for contributions to candidates broken down by state, I found this link:

I'm not sure what is up with the NRA. They seem to like lobbying better then lawsuits. Which is OK as we are all on the same team. But if you want to support a group that sues and supports those who sue. Try the Second Amendment foundation. The NRA will step up with cash once an SAF suit gains traction.

But the sad part is they will try and act like they are the lead and started the suit.

All of them including GOA have a roll to play. Remeber GOA helped stop the background bill which had the endorsment (later retracted) of SAF.

Each plays a vital role but none are one size fits all.
