Domestic violence question

     I have a friend who having some domestic violence issues. She knows it's illegal to remove the weapon, But wants to know if it's illegal to remove magazines and ammo form the home.

The question is a bit vague. Who's weapon is it, hers or someone else's?

It's her husband's. She's concerned that he might hurt her and himself.

Have the police ever been called? Did he physically assault or threaten her? If she is really concerned she should call the police and have them remove the weapons.

Then she should notify the police and possibly turn the gun in to them.

or, if she knows someone who has experience - have them pull the pin

from the HG so it won't fire........

He's a guy... Taking ammo and mags is not going to stop him... That's just a quick trip to the store to get a box of ammo....

 

If she is afraid she should leave... There is never an almost worried... If you are even thinking for a minute that somone may kill you or kill themselves and these thoughts are based in reason and logic... She should do something about it... At the very least remove herself from the situation...

Thank guys. You all made good points. Kind of the same advice that I gave her, but it's hard try to convince someone in her situation.

 

She wants to leave because she's tired of being abused. She doesn't want to leave but doesn't want to take his child from him. She scared to leave because she thinks he might kill himself. Typical abuse cycle.

Can't help her until she's ready for help.  Things unfortunately need to get worse first and then she'll probably be back a half dozen times before she finally decides to be gone for good.

 

and prohibition doesn't ever work in any situation.  Trying to take his magazines or ammo isn't going to change a thing.
