sof 0 Posted February 28, 2014 So, I bought a used 45 knowing there are holster marks on the slide. Does anyone know of any simple way to remove the marks?

iCARRY 0 Posted February 28, 2014 Pics would help. What type of holster was it?
pjd832 146 Posted February 28, 2014 Is it stainless/silver? ...all my pistols have holster WEAR ..meaning the black has been worn off which if someone wanted to fix would require refinishing....but to me they are just fine as they they're pistols not rare antiques etc.... sof 0 Posted February 28, 2014 Sorry about the no pics, but I hate using photobucket. I tried to include it in the original post and it was so small you couldn't tell anything. Also their site is slow as ... the gun is brushed stainless and the marks show as shiny spots. They are small, but it would be nice to have them gone. Steve_G 51 Posted February 28, 2014 The finish on that TRP is bead blasted, not brushed. The only way I know of to get rid of the marks is to have it re-blasted. Springfield would probably do it for no charge if the gun was sent to them for some other reason like an upgrade or repair of some sort.
High Exposure 5,677 Posted February 28, 2014 I know an easy 4 step process that will make those holster marks disappear: Step 1) Make sure it is unloaded Step 2) Drop it on a gravel driveway Step 3) Repeat step 2 ten times Step 4) Tie it to your bumper and drag it behind your car for 1-2 miles I guarantee that you won't even see those holster marks after that. Or, get over it and go to the range and shoot the piss out of it, 'cause it's a gun.

I'm not obsessing or anything and it is getting shot quite nicely, but if anyone knew of a simple fix, why not?
sof 0 Posted February 28, 2014 Oh, and I tried shooting the piss out of it but only bullets come out. I'll have to order the attachment?
pbkid6974 1 Posted February 28, 2014 the only fix is to refinish the gun. if it was blued i would say just hit it with a blueing pen but thats not an option here. give her some more scratches and call her your own.

sof 0 Posted February 28, 2014 No problems. It stays as is, until it gets more then it'll stay like that!
acaixguard 37 Posted March 1, 2014 I like High Exposures suggestion +1. Or how about, get a holster for that gun, which you should have anyway for any serious use pistol. Then practice drawing from it like a fiend. Now you will have holster wear that you contributed to, and it will just add to the character.
