Melgamatic 66 Posted August 18, 2014 Creedmoor sells air rifle conversion kits that are basically an AR-platform air rifle upper. http://www.creedmoorsports.com/shop/MAR177-PCP-Conversion-Kit.html Does anyone have one of these? I'm thinking it would be fun to practice with my son in our basement this winter! -Dave
T Bill 649 Posted August 18, 2014 Have not seen that before. Game changer for the air rifle crowd. Not all that expensive if you consider what you'll spend on a match air rifle for competition. With no platform change adjustments. WOW!
10X 3,306 Posted August 18, 2014 It looks like fun, should be good for informal practice. It won't make inroads into the competition market though. The AR platform just isn't suited for that kind of work. The 10 dot on a 10 meter target is only 0.5 mm across, and even the junior competitors are hitting more 10s than 9s. I think they are already used widely in the National Match Air Rifle competitions. There are a lot of people using AR in the National Service Rifle competitions, and this would be a platform for off-season practice.
vladtepes 1,060 Posted August 19, 2014 would still fall under firearm laws when assembled since the lower is the serialized part and thus the firearm?
Melgamatic 66 Posted August 19, 2014 would still fall under firearm laws when assembled since the lower is the serialized part and thus the firearm? Yes, it's a gun. You'd have to be discrete using it in the basement since it might still be discharging a firearm in town, etc...
