They're not ready for that yet in most cases. I suppose there may be larger than average 9 year olds with the shooting experience and upper body strength to handle a non rimfire FA, but probably few and far between. And no I'm not for new laws, restrictions, or bans on ranges making their own rules. If the kid is ready, the kid is ready age shouldn't be a factor. What im saying is by 9 most aren't yet.

Rimfire is obviously great with a long barrel or a can to make it longer and safer!

 

I wouldn't hand YOU that gun. That's how dangerous that gun is.

 

There is a middle ground after that that can be hashed out.

I don't think I would even want to shoot that gun on FA without the ability to shoulder it. I'm aware of how easily it can run away on the shooter.

I shot that same type of gun and it almost got from me, and I am by no means a small guy- I am 240+ and still sift some serious weights every day.  I wouldn't trust that gun in an adult's hands let alone a small child.
