david8613 69 Posted October 23, 2014 I'm checking out the trijicon rm series mini dots for my kel tec ksg, I want to stay light but I noticed they have multiple models, dual illuminated, battery powered and another with no adjustments. Which do you recommend and why? Or would I be better served by putting something bigger like an aimpoint, eotech or trijicon full size models. This is gonna be for range and back up home defense. effd27145 0 Posted October 23, 2014 While the rmr's are excellent optics, if your looking for something that size in that price range you are better off with an aimpoint micro.
Blake 50 Posted October 24, 2014 I have multiple rmr01s on handguns. Great for their purpose but wouldnt use for a rifle/shotgun. Having shot a ksg recently I would use an eotech or something similar as I think.its reticle is best suited for your purpose.
david8613 69 Posted October 29, 2014 I'm liking the trijicon rx 30, big pov, big 6.5 moa dot, no batteries and rugged.
High Exposure 5,680 Posted October 30, 2014 The micro T1 from Aimpoint is about 1/3 more expensive than an RMR. I have one (RMR02) on a pistol, always in, auto adjust for brightness, and have no complaints. Battery has been in for two years now with no issues. I have an Insight MRDS on an MP5 that also works very well. I just changed the battery after 3 years - but I turn that one off when not in use. They are becoming more common on long guns, and would have no issues running one on shotgun or rifle. I think Pat MacNamara is a big proponent of the RMR on rifles. As far as "window" or tube size, it doesn't really matter. Both eyes should be open when using any RDS. With both eyes open you have full field of view regardless of the size of the window, especially with a RDS that has unlimited eye relief and can be placed further from your eye. david8613 69 Posted November 4, 2014 I recieved the trijicon rx 30 today, I wanted to love this sight but I'm sorry to say i'm not too happy with the brightness of the reticle. I have a mepro tru dot rds for my tavor for comparison. The trijicon rx 30 is very well built, I love the huge window. She just washes out way too much. Standing in a dim room, not total darkness, just dim and looking into a normal lit room focusing on a dark object she washes out! The amber color of the reticle is also less noticable compared to the mepro tru dot red reticle. I'm gonna play with it some more before I return it. in bright lit room she looks pretty good. The blue tinted glass is noticable compared to the mepros nice clear glass.
